Seychelles – Endless, Breathtaking Impressions You Will Never Forget…

Arrival in the Seychelles

My friend Dennis and I decided to fly to the dream islands of the Seychelles in 2016. By chance, we discovered online that SeyVillas specialises in this particular group of islands, so we booked our accommodation and transfers through them.
When our holiday finally began at the end of February 2017 and we arrived on Mahé, we were welcomed by the local tour operator, ‘Créole’, who looked after us throughout our transfers. Everything went perfectly!

Étoile Labrine accommodation

When we arrived at our guest house, Étoile Labrine, which is not far from the most beautiful beach in the world, Anse Source d’Argent, we were overwhelmed by the lush, beautifully maintained grounds!
Our room had been prepared for us with so much imagination and style. There were 8 other guest houses around ours, with reception directly opposite. The entire property was surrounded by greenery and all sorts of flowers, plants and fruit-bearing palms. As we later discovered, the fruit was served to guests at breakfast. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and delicious!

Excursions

One of our excursions on the island was a hike with a local man named Robert in the south of La Digue. The hike had been warmly recommended to us by SeyVillas. At first, we thought we would do it on our own, but our customer adviser warned us about the dangerous paths, which are best tackled with an experienced local guide. We therefore decided to hike with Robert.
Robert led us through wilderness and rocky terrain for around 6–7 hours, showing us breathtaking scenery that we would never have been able to see on our own. Along the way, we encountered plants, animals and fruits that Robert told us more about. Eventually, we reached a beach where we stopped for around 1.5 hours and had the chance to go snorkelling. We were also served a plate full of fruit and delicacies for lunch. The hike was strenuous in places, but it is an adventure you really should experience on La Digue!

Catamaran trip to ‘Curieuse’ island

Another excursion took us by catamaran to Curieuse, which we booked through SeyVillas. The excursion included a snorkelling stop, giving us the opportunity to explore the underwater world of the Seychelles. Snorkelling equipment was provided free of charge. The main destination of this excursion was ‘Curieuse’, also known as ‘Tortoise Island’. There, we saw many free-roaming tortoises, which we photographed, watched and stroked – what an experience! We were even allowed to touch the tiny ones!
We were then divided into 2 groups and went on a short hike of around 1 hour across the island. Along the way, we gained some wonderful insights into its flora and fauna. The hike ended on the other side of the island, where our catamaran was already waiting for us, and small boats took us back on board. On the catamaran, we enjoyed a buffet with delicious grilled fish, followed by dessert.

Perhaps the most beautiful beach in the world – ‘Anse Source d’Argent’

Anse Source d’Argent was not far from our guest house. It is a beach with perhaps the most fascinating rock formations and the most beautiful water we had ever seen. You could reach the beach either through the island’s national park (be careful: there is an entrance fee!) or by going around the outside. On the beach itself, there were several small stalls selling fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juices, which you simply have to try!
Of course, you could also have coconut water and fresh coconut flesh if you wanted. Compared with beaches in Europe (although you really cannot compare them! ;-)), the beach was not particularly crowded. We were able to find a lovely shady spot to ourselves and simply take in the scenery. All around us, we could watch tiny crabs scurrying into their holes or hunting for food left by ants – such a funny sight!

Conclusion

A holiday we will never forget and would love to experience all over again! Next time, we would like to split our stay in the Seychelles between Mahé and Praslin. There were simply so many things that gave us that ‘wow’ feeling and made another visit worthwhile! We are certain there are countless more just waiting for us to discover next time! A dream…
