Our Dream Wedding on La Digue

For as long as I can remember, one thing was certain: if I ever got married, it would be in the Seychelles. In November 2023, the time had finally come, and we were able to have the symbolic wedding of our dreams, just the two of us on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

We found all the information we needed for our trip to the Seychelles on SeyVillas. It is a really well-organised, easy-to-navigate website that left none of our questions unanswered. Our contact at SeyVillas was also available to help with our specific queries. Even so, I had some ‘concerns’ about the wedding planning. After all, as a woman, it feels strange to place everything in someone else’s hands. We put together our preferred package and booked the photographer for an additional hour – something I would definitely recommend – although that amount of time was also perfectly sufficient.

We spent 4 nights on Praslin at Villa Aya, before setting off on day 5 for La Digue, our dream island. Here, we stayed at La Diguoise. On the evening we arrived, we contacted our wedding planner and arranged a meeting for later that night. During the meeting, we discussed all the details and chose the wedding decorations and cake – I was so excited and full of anticipation.

On the morning of the wedding, straight after breakfast, the hairdresser I had booked arrived and styled my hair beautifully. My bridal bouquet was made from white frangipani, matching the flowers in my hair. . My husband had a small matching frangipani buttonhole. She also helped me into my dress and calmed my nerves.

About half an hour before the ceremony, our celebrant and photographer, Shanna, collected us in a beautifully decorated golf buggy, and we set off on the 20-minute journey to Grand Anse. The drive was wonderful, and we laughed together in the sunshine, delighted by the weather. Once there, we walked through the tall grass towards the beach, carrying the cool box with us. Our beautifully decorated pavilion was waiting for us, with a pathway lined with palm leaves. The ceremony itself was beautiful and moving. We both struggled to hold back the tears because we were simply overwhelmed that our dream was coming true.

After the ceremony, we toasted with some delicious, wonderfully chilled sparkling wine and enjoyed the moment on the almost deserted beach. Afterwards, we had an incredibly delicious, light buttercream cake. This moment was ours alone.

When we were ready, we began the photo shoot. It was a genuinely enjoyable experience. There were no posed photographs – everything was natural and wonderful, just like the setting. It felt like a dream. As the weather was at its very best, we finished the shoot with a ‘cool-off’ in the sea, fully dressed, even though the water temperature was 29°C. It was glorious – and the day was a dream come true.

Shanna did a truly wonderful job, and all my earlier concerns about the photographs were completely unfounded, as we had not seen any of Shanna’s work beforehand.

We would like to thank everyone involved from the SeyVillas team for this unforgettable, perfect day.
