Honeymoon in Paradise

At last, the time has come! We have finished our final days at work, packed our suitcases and are ready to set off on our long-awaited honeymoon.

Admittedly, the journey there was a little arduous… first we drove to Frankfurt Airport, then flew the first leg to Dubai. After a short stopover to stretch our legs, we continued on to Mahé. However, we had saved this island for the end, so we headed straight to the ferry, dropped off our luggage and waited for an hour, taking another moment to catch our breath before our journey reached its very choppy climax after more than 24 hours (travel sickness tablets are highly recommended). My husband is not really one for long-haul travel, partly because he absolutely hates flying, and I had already started to worry that I had gone a little overboard with the planning and asked too much of him. But that thought disappeared within the first few hours, because we really had arrived in paradise.

Praslin – Bliss Hotel (7 nights)

We still used the rest of the day to recover from the journey and get our bearings. At the hotel, we were welcomed with cold drinks and chilled towels. Our room, a small cottage surrounded by tropical plants, had been lovingly furnished and decorated with flowers and towel swans. Welcome to PraslinWelcome to Praslin The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious.

From then on, we alternated between relaxing by the pool or on the beach, drinking cocktails and reading, and going on excursions to explore the island. Our first day trip took us to Vallée de Mai to see the Coco de Mer palms, followed by lunch and a relaxing end to the day on the dreamlike Anse Lazio beach . Our personal favourite here was Koko Loco Bar.

For our second excursion, we booked a 3-island tour that included snorkelling. We were able to get very close to the giant tortoises. To our great delight, we spotted dolphins from the boat, watched two small lemon sharks near the shore and, as the perfect finale, even saw a sea turtle while snorkelling. It was simply magical! We ventured out on our own for our third excursion. We took the bus and then hiked to Anse Lazio. It was another truly lovely experience because we met a local along the way who told us a great deal about the plants and animals.

La Digue – (4 nights)

I was particularly taken with this little island. The very fact that you get everywhere on foot or by bicycle adds to the wonderful holiday atmosphere. The hotel even gave us an upgraded room because not all the rooms were occupied when we arrived. Once again, we were surprised with beautiful floral decorations and wine.

Welcome to La DigueWelcome to La Digue In the evening, a table had been lovingly laid for us to celebrate our honeymoon, and we enjoyed a 4-course meal. For our first excursion, we wanted to take a glass-bottom kayak tour. We cycled to the beautiful L’Union Estate National Park for this. Palm trees, white beaches, clear water and colourful fish. The kayak tour was a great success too. We were ‘stranded’ on the island from Robinson Crusoe, had a look around and then learnt how to crack open a coconut ourselves. So we are now well prepared to survive on a desert island.

Thanks to a member of the hotel staff, we began our second excursion with a short climb to Belle Vue Snack Bar. From here, there was a fantastic view of the neighbouring islands. Afterwards, we cycled as far as Anse Fourmis and then made our way across the rocks to Caiman Beach Bar. After a short break and a cocktail, we continued on foot to Coco Bar, where we enjoyed an excellent local buffet lunch.

We particularly liked the Bikini Bottom beach bar on La Digue, where we seemed to spend the rest of our time.

Mahé – Bliss Hotel (6 nights)

Admittedly, we took things rather slowly on Mahé towards the end of our holiday, making the most of the peace and the beautiful surroundings at the hotel before everyday life caught up with us again at home. We received another very warm welcome here. On two evenings there was even live music with dinner, and a DJ on another occasion, which created a wonderful atmosphere

We took a day tour around the island to visit the capital, Victoria, and enjoy a Takamaka rum tasting. In conclusion, all I can say is that we would do everything in exactly the same way if we had to make the decision again today. From planning and booking with SeyVillas to the hotels and excursions organised by Creole, everything was simply perfect!

We certainly did not regret our decision to book the transfer package in advance either. We did not have to worry about a thing once we arrived, were always warmly welcomed at the airport or ferry terminal, and consistently had friendly contacts as well as very pleasant and reliable drivers. With that in mind: thank you for everything!
