At the end of March, we set off on our long-awaited trip to Mahé. After a direct flight of just under 9 hours from Frankfurt, we arrived on Mahé at dawn.
Although we arrived much earlier than planned, our hire car was ready and we were even able to check into our accommodation early. The island won us over straight away. On our very first day, we set off for the rock pool. The route was exciting, but quite strenuous in the heat. Along the way, we met a local who explained the different plants and trees in the forest to us and guided us to the rock pool. It was a wonderful experience, and we would highly recommend the rock pool.

On the second day, we continued with the hike to Anse Major – well worth it. At the starting point, you pay a small entrance fee and then set off straight away, first through a forest and then over rocks and up steps to the viewpoint. The views are breathtaking. After a short breather, we continued down to the beach. It is an absolute dream, and the hike there is well worth the effort. It took us around 1 hour 15 minutes each way. We could have taken a boat back, but we decided to walk back to the car. The following day, we wanted to take things a little more slowly and visited Anse Takamaka. It is a lovely beach, but the waves were so high and the water so rough that we could not swim, so we carried on. Shortly afterwards, we discovered the absolute highlight of our holiday: Anse Marie-Louise.
We returned several times during our holiday. The beach became our absolute favourite place on the island. It was almost deserted and spacious, with wonderful water for snorkelling and white sand. Over the next few days, we also visited Eden Island, where we had incredibly delicious smoothies and the best vanilla milkshake we had ever tasted at ‘Sey si Bon’ in Eden Plaza. A brief visit to Victoria was also a must, so we went to see the Clock Tower and admired the temple from the outside. A few days later, a visit to the Botanical Gardens was on our itinerary. We were impressed by the enormous variety of plants there. We also visited the giant tortoises, which gave us another perspective on the island. During our final few days, we repeatedly stopped at beaches around the island. We would set off in the morning and stop wherever took our fancy – though we usually ended up returning to Anse Major, as this beach had simply captured our hearts.

When it came to food, we really enjoyed the takeaways near us, such as Dokeaway, where the grilled fish was our favourite, and the Anchor Cafe. Kapatya also impressed us with its delicious dishes, which we were then able to enjoy at our wonderful accommodation.

We spent our entire holiday at Top View Retreat. The accommodation won us over at first sight. The view from the terrace was simply wonderful! The flat was very well equipped, and the hosts were incredibly kind. The rubbish was collected daily, and the bed linen and towels were changed every 4 days. Our contact with the owners was always genuinely warm and friendly. We would definitely return. View from the terrace at Top view Retreat
To sum up, everything went smoothly and worked brilliantly, from booking the apartment and car through SeyVillas to the accommodation itself and all the arrangements on site. This meant we could fully relax and enjoy our absolute dream holiday, and we were not disappointed. Seychelles, we will be back.
