Description:
The Takamaka Beach Villas are located on Cerf Island, next to the ocean, and are perfect for holidaymakers looking for peace and privacy during their getaway. The stunning local beach offers an evergreen canopy of coconut palm trees and takamaka trees, providing plenty of natural shade all day-long. The beach, as is the case with the rest of the island, is part of the protected Sainte Anne Marine Park, a collection of a dozen or so small islands surrounding a beautiful lagoon.
Cerf Island offers little in the way of what you'd call roads or paths. In fact, the closest thing to a road or walkway is the beach that circles the island, although it does tend to narrow at high tide, hence the trodden mud paths further inland, which lead to wider beaches or to one of the two beach restaurants on teh island. Don't worry about trespassing, however, as the friendly atmosphere on Cerf is almost like a little beach village. The pathways lead past shipwrecks, old chests, and other 'island treasures' that show the rich history and development of the island.
Thankfully, the beach differs from others in the Seychelles, in that it is rarely cleared of natural things such as flotsam, seaweed, or jetsam. This makes it a real natural beach. The seaweed in particular is vital for the turtles and tortoises around the Seychelles, and is also a sign that the underwater scenery of the Seychelles is thriving.
The Takamaka Beach Vilas are found in an authentic little corner of the Seychelles, in that there are no streets, cars, discos, or shops. However, you're never more than about 2 km (1.25 miles) away from Mahé, something you're reminded of every time you look out over the sea and spot the imposing silhouette of Mahé with its rainforest 'skyline' and hefty granite formations. You can also see the artificial Eden Island, as well as Victoria, the smallest capital city in the world. If you take a look to the north, you can see some modern wind-turbines, also built on an artificial island. Just a bit further along, you have an open view of the Indian Ocean.
The taxi-boat, run by Cerf Island's Habitation hotel, runs up to four times each day. The boat is perfect for those staying on Cerf who want to discover Mahé or Eden Island for themselves. This also means that you can self-cater while on Cerf, as there are shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants, and take-aways in Victoria, on Mahé, as well as near the jetty on Eden Island. Because the Seychelles sunset is at around 18:00 each day throughout the year, the last boat of the day runs at 17:30 from Eden Island to Cerf. Therefore, it certainly helps to be a fan of absolute tranquillity and solitude to stay on Cerf Island. Guests then have the option of preparing their own dinner, or visiting one of Cerf Island's two beach restaurants.
The Takamaka Beach Villas offer a veranda with view, and outdoor furniture (two loungers, a table, and four chairs), helping you make the most of the space. Once you enter the villa through one of the two large glass doors, you'll find the lounge and the bedroom, which is equipped with a kingsize double bed. The bedroom also offers a large en suite bathroom, including a shower, double wash basin, and a WC. The lounge consists of a comfortable seating area that joins onto an American-style kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster, and more. Thanks to the good kitchen facilities, guests have the option to self-cater for their holiday instead of eating breakfast and dinner in one of the island's restaurants.

We were brought straight from the pier to Villa Coco so that we could find our way to dinner in the dark. The path on the beach was actually not accessible because a new pier for the jetty was being built and there were excavators and truck-mounted cranes on the path. The villa is nicely furnished and the welcome gift in the fridge was 1l of orange juice, 1 piece of toast, eggs, 2 bottles of water, 1/2 stick of butter (which had expired 6 months ago) and salt. The villa was clean and there was enough crockery for self-sufficiency (we had half board). The neighbor burned his garbage on the neighboring property that day. With the air conditioning and the doors open, everything came into the villa and we spent the whole night in a smoker's den. So the next day we moved to Villa Takamaka, which is closer to the beach. Snorkeling here on the beach was not possible, as there was construction on the right and left of the property and the water was only muddy. At the Hotel Habitation, to which the villas belong and where breakfast and dinner also took place, kayaks can be borrowed free of charge and the pool can be used. A round of kayaking around the island can be done in about 2 hours. Unfortunately, we didn't know that the wind and the current in May came from the south-east and that the visibility for snorkeling off Cerf was limited. The best place to do this is right in front of the hotel's jetty. The food ranged from average (1st evening) to very, very good and the service was very good and always tried hard. A flashlight is absolutely necessary for the way to the hotel in the evening. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
On Cerf Island there are no roads or shops. This makes you heavily dependent on the few hotels that there are. Surf villa was serviced by Hotel l’Habitacion, which was a nice hotel with friendly and caring staff. We would recommend booking a room in the hotel or one of their suites, instead of the villas that are further down the beach (~10 min walk). The hotel provides for free kayaks which is a great way to explore the island! There is also one trail nearby which crosses the island. The start is hidden behind some houses and not sign posted.
