Wedding in the Seychelles
Getting married in the Seychelles
We took the crazy gamble of getting married in the Seychelles! Fifteen friends and family members joined us, much to our delight. We could not have dreamt of anything better for our wedding and holiday. We all came home with stars in our eyes and extraordinary memories.
Our adventure began the day after we arrived. We hired 4 cars, which the locals call ‘leaves’ because they are so tiny. Driving on the left was not easy! We set off to discover Anse Major. It was a 1-hour walk to get there, but the scenery was so magnificent that it took us 2 hours because we kept stopping to photograph the views and the granite rocks. The beach was deserted, so we had a photo shoot before putting on our masks and exploring the ocean. We saw our first fish. In the afternoon, we drove towards Port Glaud to cool off at the waterfall and ended the day at Anse Intendance.

The next day, we took the bus to Victoria Market, with all its colours and aromas. There were stalls laden with fruit, fish, flowers and souvenirs. We loved eating at the takeaways. We could not resist the call of the sea, so we hired a boat to go fishing, enjoy a barbecue and do some snorkelling.
That was where we encountered a sea turtle, a pencil urchin, giant clams, a pufferfish... a small shark and rays! We also spotted dolphins and flying fish in the distance! The Indian Ocean is like a giant aquarium, and the water is wonderfully warm.

We got married on the Monday on Beau Vallon beach. It was a unique day in a heavenly setting, surrounded by the people we love, with music, cocktails and a fish barbecue. The day went by far too quickly...

The next day, we took the Cat Cocos ferry to Praslin, where we spent the afternoon with some children from the island. We sang songs to one another. Communication was difficult, but we had a lovely time. They left with a snorkelling mask we had given them and could hardly believe it; I do not think they are used to receiving gifts like that! We visited the Vallée de Mai and saw its famous bum-shaped coco de mer nuts!

The following day, we set off for La Digue with our bicycles! Anse Source d’Argent dazzled us. After a quick bite at a beachside hut, we set off again on foot to reach Anse Cocos, which is simply sublime.

We were enchanted by the relaxed nature of the local people; a wonderfully restful atmosphere drifts through the Seychelles. We all agreed that the Seychelles surely has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and we will return...
