In Paradise!

Praslin

After many months of planning and anticipation, the time had finally come: we were flying to the Seychelles with our 5-year-old daughter!

When we arrived at the airport on Mahé, we were greeted by a friendly member of the Creole team, and our driver took us to the ferry terminal. We were immediately captivated by the lush vegetation and the many small offshore islands, which shimmered beautifully in the morning sun. During the ferry crossing to Praslin, we marvelled at the flying fish accompanying us.

On Praslin, another driver from Creole was waiting to take us to our accommodation at Anse Kerlan, the Cap Jean Marie Villas. These wonderful little houses are right on the beach, which we had all to ourselves every day.

Our host gave us a very warm welcome, showed us around, explained everything and shared plenty of tips for our stay on Praslin. Over the next 5 days, we enjoyed this wonderful island and its many beautiful beaches, visited the Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve and took a boat trip to Curieuse. That day made a particularly strong impression on us, as it was where we encountered our first giant tortoises.

The snorkelling spots were also fantastic and gave us a glimpse of the diverse underwater world, full of vibrant colours and fascinating shapes. We spent a day visiting La Digue and explored it by bicycle despite the rainy weather, so that we could discover its most beautiful beaches too.

Mahé

Sadly, it was soon time to say goodbye to Praslin and take the ferry back to Mahé. Once again, the transfer was organised seamlessly by Creole. We spent the remaining 4 days on Mahé in Pointe au Sel at Villa Kordia, where the friendly owners immediately took us on an interesting tour of their heavenly garden. They, too, were extremely helpful. The villa was attractively furnished and offered us plenty of space.

On Mahé, we particularly enjoyed the Jardin du Roi, with its countless plant species. It was also fascinating to experience the colourful hustle and bustle of the Sir Selwyn Clarke Market in Victoria. A boat trip took us to Moyenne Island, where we enjoyed a wonderful walk with breathtaking views and fascinating discoveries along the way, and encountered many more tortoises.

Mahé: Anse IntendanceMahé: Anse Intendance At Beau Vallon, we witnessed a breathtaking sunset. At La Plaine St. André, a former colonial-era plantation, we learnt how the world-famous Takamaka rum is made and were then able to sample it during a rum tasting. We also marvelled at the fruit bats there – enormous flying foxes that glide through the air almost majestically.

In the Seychelles, we not only saw breathtaking landscapes and beaches, but also met many lovely, wonderfully laid-back and open-minded people, enjoyed delicious food every day and quite literally immersed ourselves in the fascinating flora and fauna.

It is absolutely impossible to put all these wonderful impressions into words. It is equally impossible to capture in photographs what our eyes truly saw in the Seychelles. It was breathtakingly beautiful! We are so happy to have shown our daughter this ‘other world’. A huge thank you to SeyVillas for organising our holiday so perfectly in advance.

This holiday will remain unforgettable, and we are certain: we will be back!!!
