On 2 May 2017, we got married on the Seychellois island of La Digue. We had a wonderful day, thanks to the arrangements made by SeyVillas. As it had rained torrentially the day before, we were anxious and kept hoping for the best. When everything is so green and the vegetation so lush, it simply has to rain from time to time (on 6 of our 21 days, in our case). Fortunately, the weather was kind to us and we had a truly wonderful day. The sun shone, and the enchanting decorations and photographs were perfect.

Everything was just as we had imagined it. A dream beach with a turquoise sea, crystal-clear water, fine white sand, coconut palms and the typical granite rocks as a backdrop, complemented by colourful frangipani flowers. A wedding in paradise.
At lunchtime, we relaxed by the hotel pool, and in the evening our perfect day was rounded off with a romantic, private and incredibly delicious candlelit dinner on the beach. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Seychelles for getting married and spending your honeymoon. Everything went perfectly, the service was fantastic and all our concerns proved completely unfounded. The bureaucracy involved in getting married abroad is also quite manageable.

SeyVillas takes care of the formalities on site. Once back home, you simply have your marriage certificate translated into German and take it to the register office. Many thanks to SeyVillas for patiently answering our countless questions.
The Seychelles are the right destination for anyone who loves nature, prefers to avoid mass tourism, wants to relax and is prepared to pay the corresponding price. There is not much nightlife or shopping to speak of here, but the islands more than make up for it in many other ways.

The locals are friendly and helpful, and even when you are the only tourist on a public bus, you feel completely at ease. When it comes to crime, safety, poisonous animals, illnesses or anything similar, the Seychelles truly are a paradise where there is nothing to fear. Life in the Seychelles really is simple and effortless.
We had never before seen so much natural beauty concentrated in one place. At times, it felt like a dream. Many of the beaches are also deserted, giving you plenty of time together and space to dream.
The diversity of the islands is wonderful. There is much more to discover here than just beaches. We hiked to breathtaking viewpoints, visited national parks, marvelled at the underwater world while snorkelling, learnt a great deal about the country and its people, enjoyed fantastic food and watched glorious sunsets.
We spent 9 days on La Digue at the Patatran Hotel and Le Surmer, 7 days on Praslin at the Pirogue Lodge and 5 days on Mahé at Villa Dorado.
Welcome cocktail
We stayed in a mixture of accommodation, from simple self-catering guesthouses and bed and breakfast to half board at a stylish hotel, and we would recommend almost all of them. At Pirogue Lodge, we had the best tuna steak in the world – absolutely fantastic!
Self-catering is also very straightforward. Naturally, the supermarkets do not offer the same selection as those in Europe. However, you can find everything you need, and the inexpensive takeaways serve delicious fish and other Creole dishes.
Coconut palm on Praslin
Our highlight was, of course, the wedding, closely followed by the deserted beaches of La Digue and the giant tortoises and sea turtles. We would do everything exactly the same way again, except that we would spend even more days on Mahé. The island has an incredible variety to offer. But who would not like a longer holiday...
