To escape the stresses of everyday life, we decided to spend our holiday somewhere exclusive. A little corner of the world without sprawling hotel complexes or mass tourism. A place where stress is unheard of and all sense of time simply seems to disappear.
The Seychelles.
When we began planning our dream holiday, we happened to come across SeyVillas online, a tour operator specialising in the Seychelles. The itinerary, choice of hotels and order of the islands were simply perfect. We chose Condor because it is the only airline offering a direct flight. However, you should book at least Premium Economy, as the 9.5-hour flight can otherwise feel very cramped and uncomfortable.
We landed on Mahé, from where we first travelled to La Digue for 4 days, followed by 5 days on Praslin and finally another 5 days back on Mahé. We travelled between the islands by catamaran, but this was a nightmare because the sea was very rough, with waves reaching up to 4 m. Next time, we will fly. There is another option: small propeller aircraft, which are not much more expensive but are quicker and do not cause seasickness.
La Digue is a small, dreamy island with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Apart from a few exceptions, there are virtually no cars here. The main means of transport is the bicycle, which makes it easy to reach every corner of the island and all its sights in no time at all. The islanders are very friendly, but they also like to be left in peace.
We stayed on a bed-and-breakfast basis at Casa de Leela, a holiday complex comprising 6 small, comfortably furnished bungalows.
Casa de Leela
The staff here are very friendly and helpful. It is in a very central location, and the beach is only 3 minutes away by bicycle. Just a few steps away is a takeaway offering a wide range of Creole culinary delights. The food is truly delicious and definitely highly recommended.
Praslin, by contrast, is a large island with high mountains and deep ravines. Here you can admire the full diversity and beauty of the Seychelles. It is home to the famous Coco de Mer palm, found nowhere else in the world. It is endangered and protected by law, and exporting its fruit is strictly prohibited.
Coco de Mer
Our accommodation here was Coco de Mer & Black Parrot Suites, where we stayed on a half-board basis. It is a beautiful, somewhat larger complex with several rows of bungalows situated directly on the beach.

There was a breakfast buffet, while dinner alternated between a delicious 6-course menu, with a choice of 3 options, on 2 consecutive evenings, and a very generous themed buffet on the third evening. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Mahé is the main island and home to the capital, Victoria, which is certainly worth visiting. The town centre is particularly interesting, with its many narrow lanes and small shops. You should also make sure not to miss the covered market and its fish market. Here we stayed at Crown Beach Hotel, also on a half-board basis.

It is a small, very comfortable hotel situated directly on the beach. Every January, giant tortoises hatch on the hotel’s private beach; this year there were 150 of them.

The staff here were also very attentive, friendly and helpful. Each day began with an American breakfast, and dinner was served à la carte. Once again, there was nothing we did not enjoy. Our holiday in the Seychelles was a complete success: restful, relaxing and enjoyable in every way. We would once again like to express our heartfelt thanks to the SeyVillas team, and especially to Mr Cuccarano, for the wonderfully friendly and personal advice. Best wishes, Weronika and Reimund
