The Seychelles! A Dream Holiday Destination, Even for Just Ten Days!
On the catamaran
Unfortunately, our limited annual leave meant we could spend only 10 days in the Seychelles. We divided our trip between a catamaran tour and a stay on La Digue.
It was our first catamaran tour. It was simply fantastic to jump from the boat into the crystal-clear water and snorkel as if we were in an aquarium. The underwater world was wonderful. There was no swell at this time of year (late October), so nobody in the group suffered from seasickness.
The local guides and our fellow travellers made a great team. The chef conjured up better Creole dishes with each passing day. On our very first day, during the crossing from Mahé to Praslin, we had an incredible experience: we encountered a young whale shark measuring a good 5 m in length, which swam and played with us for several minutes. Even the crew were thrilled.

When booking a catamaran tour, it is best to choose a cabin on the upper deck to avoid unpleasant smells and enjoy slightly better ventilation. An alternative to sleeping in a cabin, however, is spending the nights under the open sky. The southern night sky and fantastic sunrises are guaranteed and make up for the rather hard mattress on the catamaran’s sun deck.

La Digue
La Digue has already been described in detail several times in the travel reports here. Measuring just 6 × 3 km, this small island is a fantastic place to spend a few days. We highly recommend the sunset dinner with Sami at Snack Bellevue, on the 333 m-high Nid d'Aigle.
For dinner, we visited the local takeaways, where fresh Creole dishes were prepared. It was also a great way to start chatting with local people.
We had a wonderful time. We would happily return, even if only for another short stay. The small time difference of just 2 or 3 hours (summer/winter time) certainly helps. Our thanks go to the SeyVillas team for their excellent tips and impeccable organisation.
