After a long journey, our holiday began the moment we stepped out of the airport building. Our taxi driver’s sunny disposition and the Creole music on the radio immediately put us in the mood for a wonderful holiday. After a short taxi ride to the pier, where we met our fellow travellers, we were soon able to board the boat and enjoy our first delicious cocktail.
The crew gave us a very warm welcome, and after a brief introduction, we set off on our grand adventure aboard the VPM catamaran. On the catamaran Perfect weather and turquoise waters soon tempted us to take our first plunge into the sea. Saint Anne IslandEven a brief rain shower could not dampen the cheerful atmosphere and carefree holiday spirit. When the ship’s bell rang on our first evening, all the guests gathered around the table for dinner – and to say it straight away: the food was PERFECT.
Every evening began with a rum cocktail and good music. None of us had expected such a wide variety of food, nor for it to be quite so good on board. Even though we all disembarked 1–2 kg heavier, we now know just how delicious Creole cuisine can be. From fresh fish and delicious curries to homemade cakes, everything was prepared with great care.
During the crossing from Mahé to La Digue, we could watch dolphins from the net or retreat into the shade with a book on the comfortable mats on deck. The cabins are spacious enough, and the boat itself offers plenty of room either to enjoy some peace and quiet or to chat with the other travellers. Highlights of the trip included waking up in secluded bays, jumping into the water and snorkelling alongside turtles... Cousine Island
Peace, nature and perfection. Not a single photograph can truly capture just how beautiful the secluded beaches on the islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue really are. The sailing trip is particularly enjoyable because you can simply relax and let the captain decide the route. We were lucky enough to catch a large tuna ourselves, which the chef prepared for us that evening. Highly recommended: hire bicycles on La Digue and go to see the tortoises Giant tortoise! Although the heat can be tiring, exploring the island is well worth the effort. Fresh juices and delicious fruit make the day even sweeter anyway.
We spent our second week on Mahé at The Palm Seychelles, near Beau Vallon Bay. There are plenty of lovely restaurants and bars here, while the long sandy beach is particularly inviting for a stroll. Walks on Mahé Hiring a car is definitely recommended! We visited a different bay every day and were surprised all over again each time. The most beautiful sunset can be seen at Anse Intendance. Delicious food can be found everywhere, preferably right by the sea. The restaurant Del Place Bar & Restaurant is highly recommended – with its attention to detail and excellent food, it is the perfect place to end the evening beside the water.
It is difficult to say where is the most beautiful... everyone should decide that for themselves. I still cannot reach a conclusion, as every single day I fell in love all over again with the natural beauty and, above all, the diversity of the islands.
