Our honeymoon in the Seychelles was a dreamlike and unforgettable experience. Over the course of two weeks, we visited three islands in the Indian Ocean. Each island we explored offered wonderful experiences and beautiful memories.
Our journey began on the main island of Mahé. We chose accommodation by the beautiful and uncrowded Anse Takamaka – the ideal place for us to settle in and unwind. The small time difference of just two hours also made the start of our trip pleasantly easy. Anse Takamaka, where our first hotel, Villa Chez Batista, was located, was lovely. However, it is a little out of the way, so we would definitely recommend hiring a car. We also used ours for several day trips. Among other places, we visited the capital, Victoria, the famous Beau Vallon beach, Anse Royale and our two favourite beaches: Anse Intendance and Anse Soleil. Another highlight of the island is the Jardin du Roi spice garden, where you can admire countless plants and spices. But be warned: the road there is quite an adventure.
After six days on Mahé, we continued to the island of La Digue. The journey by

ferry was rather rough, as the waves were very high on the outward crossing.
We loved La Digue from the moment we arrived, above all because of how peaceful it was away from the bustling harbour. There are hardly any cars on La Digue – most people get around by bicycle, which gives the island its special charm. We hired bicycles too and explored the island this way. We really enjoyed our stay at Buisson Guest House. We spent four wonderful days here. Charles and Doris’s hospitality deserves a special mention: they took excellent care of us and were always happy to help with anything we needed. The breakfast was also delicious.
Us at Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue
Animal lovers should keep their eyes open on La Digue. Several wild giant tortoises live here. We were lucky enough to see one of them, which was a wonderful experience!
An absolute highlight of the island was Anse Source d'Argent, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Although granite boulders can be found on almost every beach in the Seychelles, they are particularly impressive here. They make this a truly special place. Our recommendation: arrive as early as possible and you will have the beach almost to yourself. We spent several hours here in the turquoise water.
Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue
Our next stop was the island of Praslin, which we also reached by ferry. We spent four nights at Le Vasseur La Buse Eco Resort
. Once again, we received a very warm welcome. Our apartment right by the sea was lovely, and we immediately felt at home. We can also highly recommend the food.
Compared with La Digue, Praslin is slightly larger but also offers many beautiful beaches. The island’s palm forests were particularly impressive and are home to the famous Coco de Mer palms, which are found only in the Seychelles.
Another highlight on Praslin was our trip to Anse Lazio, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches. We spent an entire day here, enjoying the sunshine, swimming in the crystal-clear water and taking in the breathtaking natural surroundings. We also visited Anse Georgette, which was equally beautiful. However, it is important to note that the beach is surrounded by hotel grounds, so you need to register before visiting. Our hotel arranged this for us. Another thing to bear in mind is that you have to walk a fair distance across a golf course – around 25 minutes – to reach the beach. But it is well worth it!
We also took a wonderful day trip from Praslin. We stopped at two snorkelling spots, including the beautiful little island of St Pierre. The corals and fish in the crystal-clear water were very impressive. We were also able to spot a sea turtle. The tour then continued to Curieuse, a small island near Praslin. What makes it special is that it is inhabited by giant tortoises. After a walk through the island’s rainforest, we were able to see countless examples of these fascinating animals
at close quarters. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Giant tortoise on Curieuse
We will always carry the memories of our honeymoon in the Seychelles in our hearts. Above all, we will remember the wonderful hospitality and breathtaking beaches.
