Seychelles – a Dream Above and Below the Water

We began our Seychelles trip on Praslin. After arriving at Mahé Airport, we took a small Air Seychelles plane straight to Praslin. Air SeychellesAir Seychelles We arrived at our accommodation – Le Vasseur La Buse Eco Resort – and found ourselves in paradise. Lovely bungalows right by the sea, set in vast gardens, with a wonderful pool area. The beach and water here are somewhat affected by seaweed, and there are more beautiful beaches on Praslin. Our favourite beach was undoubtedly Anse Georgette in the far north of the island. We drove to the golf course at the Lemuria Resort. You should register in advance if you wish to visit the beach, as the hotel limits the number of visitors. It takes around 30 minutes to walk from the hotel entrance to the beach, but it is well worth it! White sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, framed by granite rocks and palm trees. With tropical fruit available to buy on the beach, it is easy to lose track of time here! Here, we learnt a great deal about the Coco de Mer, as well as local spices and medicinal plants. There is a lovely giant tortoise enclosure and a climb up to a fantastic viewpoint with breathtaking views across the surrounding islands. Fond FerdinandFond Ferdinand You can buy a combined ticket for both national parks, Fond Ferdinand and Vallée de Mai, which saves a little money – both are well worth visiting. We then took the ferry to our next island, La Digue. We stayed at La Digue Island Lodge, in a lovely A-frame bungalow set in even more beautiful gardens, with flowers, palm trees, birds and coconuts as far as the eye could see.La Digue Island LodgeLa Digue Island Lodge You can hire a bicycle directly from the accommodation, which is highly recommended on La Digue, as it allows you to explore the whole island and its beaches. Cycling north, past Bikini Bottom and its wonderful beach bar, you reach a small bay whose white sand and turquoise water already beckon from the hill above – Anse Patates.Anse Patates, La DigueAnse Patates, La Digue In the morning, you have the beach almost to yourself, although it becomes a little busier around midday. Anse Source d'Argent is also very beautiful, but rather crowded. If you enjoy watching wedding parties, this is the place for you. The crowds begin to thin out later in the afternoon, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the beach more fully. There is a dive centre right by our accommodation, one of only two on La Digue. The Azzura Dive Center is highly recommended. On Praslin, we went diving with Whitetip Divers, although it was rather crowded there. Generally speaking, it is best to enquire about and book dives in advance, as schedules, availability and other details are not always particularly well organised. Beneath the surface, the Seychelles are at least as beautiful as they are above water, if not even more so. There was everything a diver could wish for – sharks, turtles, octopuses and rays all appeared before long and showed themselves in their full splendour. Our absolute highlight was encountering a whale shark, which simply appeared beside our boat and accompanied us for a while.Whale sharkWhale shark It was an unforgettable experience and made our Seychelles trip truly special. Thank you, dear SeyVillas team, for making it so easy and straightforward for us to enjoy these unforgettable experiences and impressions of the Seychelles! It was a dream – both above and below the water!
