A Wonderful Seychelles Holiday
Our Emirates flight via Dubai was relatively uneventful. After arriving on Mahé, we spent 3 nights at Forest Lodge Guest House. The accommodation was up a hill, but Beau Vallon beach and a small supermarket were within walking distance. This was ideal for us, as we mostly cooked for ourselves during the holiday. We landed at around 8 am and took a taxi to our accommodation. The owner gave us a very warm welcome, and our room was lovely, with a large balcony. On our way to the beach, we unexpectedly came across a kitten that was more or less starving. We could not simply leave it there, so we took it with us, and the owners of our accommodation were incredibly helpful. They drove us to an animal rescue centre, where the kitten was taken in. We were quite surprised, as we had initially thought that nobody there would be interested in helping a sick stray kitten. On the way back from the animal rescue centre to the hotel, the owner also gave us a short tour of the north of the island and showed us the most beautiful beaches.

That evening, we went down to Beau Vallon beach and enjoyed the evening sunshine. We also spent our second day at Beau Vallon beach. It is said to be one of the Seychelles’ busiest beaches, but we still found it very peaceful and not at all crowded.

On the third day, we hired a car — which was no problem even though we were only 20 — and explored the island. The hotel owner was happy to mark the most beautiful beaches and other sights on a map for us, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful tour around the island. We visited Anse Soleil, Police Bay and many other beaches. We also went to the Tea Factory, which offers a beautiful view. The tour was therefore well worth it and was the perfect way to settle properly into our holiday. We rounded off our stay on Mahé with a meal at the Boat House on Beau Vallon beach, where a Creole buffet was served.

The following day, we were due to take the ferry to Praslin. Unfortunately, we missed it and had to wait 6 hours for the next one. That was not ideal, but we used the time to explore the capital, Victoria, in more detail. The ferry crossing was rather rough that day, so we both became quite seasick. Once we arrived on Praslin, we took a taxi to our accommodation, Chez Bea Luxury Villa. We received another very warm welcome there and were also driven to the nearest supermarket. For the next two days, we hired a car and explored the island, ultimately deciding that Anse Lazio really was its most beautiful beach. We would also recommend Tapaz Bar on the Côte d’Or, where we had cocktails in the evening.

Fortunately, the crossing to La Digue was much shorter, so we felt far less sick. We spent the longest part of our trip on La Digue, which we were very pleased about, as it was our personal favourite of all the islands. We spent our first day at Anse la Reunionl, where we had lunch at Takamaka Café. We did have to wait quite a long time for a sandwich, a burger and a milkshake, but it was worth it because everything was absolutely delicious.

On the second day, we visited Anse Source d’Argen, which was also anything but crowded. On the third day, we cycled around the island, which was fantastic, and decided that Grand Anse and Petite Anse were our favourite beaches. Powdery white sand, high waves and turquoise water. We spent much of the next few days there, despite the slightly longer cycle ride from La Passe. On our final day, we wanted to go snorkelling again, so we booked a snorkelling excursion. It was definitely worthwhile, especially as we saw small rays, reef sharks and lots of colourful fish.

Fortunately, we took our travel sickness tablets early enough for the journey from La Digue back to Mahé, so we did not feel sick. As we still had some time before our return flight, we also visited Eden Island, which we would highly recommend. All in all, it was a wonderful and incredibly relaxing trip, with beautiful beaches, and one I would recommend to everyone!
