Three Weeks Together in the Seychelles
Praslin
After a long flight, we were welcomed at the airport on Mahé by the friendly staff from the “Creole” agency, who took us directly to the ferry to Praslin. In fact, all our transfers throughout the rest of the trip also ran smoothly, so we always felt well looked after.
Our accommodation on Praslin was Villas D'Or: a lovely complex with just 10 villas, meaning that instead of simply having a hotel room, you have a proper little house with a kitchen all to yourself. The beautiful yet often almost deserted Anse Volbert beach was only a few metres away. Breakfast was served on our own veranda every day, where colourful birds kept us company. Now that we are back in Austria, we already miss their chirping very much.

In the evenings, we explored the restaurants in the nearby village. The Creole cuisine, with its delicious selection of fish, seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes accompanied by wonderful sauces, is not to be missed and is a real treat!
We also took day trips from Praslin to the surrounding islands. On La Digue, for example, we visited the dreamlike Anse Source d'Argent beach and a coconut plantation. On Curieuse Island, we were able to admire and even feed free-roaming giant tortoises, while on Cousin Island we saw many impressive and colourful native bird species at close quarters.

Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve was also definitely worth a visit. It truly resembles a rainforest, and, as in the world-famous Vallée de Mai, you can admire the Coco de Mer, which only grows naturally on Praslin, along with many other native plants. We will never forget the scent of fresh cinnamon and lemongrass there!

Cerf Island
For our transfer from Praslin to Cerf Island, we chose to fly, which took around 20 minutes. This gave us an incredibly impressive view of the Seychelles from above, which still gives us goosebumps today. The flight was definitely one of the most memorable experiences of the entire trip and should not be missed!

From Mahé airport, we were driven to Eden Island, where we continued by boat to Cerf Island. Arriving there was simply breathtaking, and it truly felt as though we had reached paradise. There are no roads, cars or shops on Cerf, just beaches and a handful of hotels and restaurants. There is also a lovely hiking trail that crosses a mountain to the other side of the island, offering a spectacular view of the surrounding islands from the summit.
However, we did not spend the entire day simply relaxing on Cerf Island either. We took more boat trips, including one to a coral reef, where we suddenly found ourselves snorkelling amid a huge shoal of colourful fish.

We also visited Moyenne Island. There are numerous legends about the island, including tales of a highly valuable buried pirate treasure and a resident ghost. We did not see either of them, but the walk around the island was beautiful, as it forms part of a national park where the original flora and fauna are preserved in as untouched a state as possible. The breathtaking coves around Moyenne are also not to be missed.
During our stay on Cerf Island, we were also able to take the boat to the main island of Mahé several times. We went there not only for shopping, but also for a day trip to explore the capital, Victoria, and Anse Royale beach, among other places. Once again, we had great fun snorkelling there.

All in all, our honeymoon in the Seychelles was a wonderful combination of relaxation and truly memorable experiences that we will never forget. We have never regretted returning home from a holiday as much as we did after this trip!
