Christmas Holidays in the Seychelles

We’ve done it!!! We book our Christmas trip to the Seychelles at the beginning of October... We leave on 22 December, land on Mahé slightly late at 15:00 on the 23rd and head straight to Praslin on the very punctual Cat Cocos ferry.

Praslin

Our arrival is not the best, with rain and clouds, but the Berjaya Praslin Resort gives us a wonderful welcome with a cocktail and all the information we need about what to see and do on the island. We decide to take the bus to the beach (you can travel around the island very cheaply for €0.30) and go to Anse Georgette, the most exclusive beach, passing through the Constance Lemuria Hotel, which is set within a golf course (access is only permitted with a booking made through your accommodation), but it is well worth it.

The sea is rough, but this is a unique, secluded bay. The following morning, we wake up for sunrise and head to Anse Lazio, a very wide beach surrounded by lush vegetation. Once again, the sea is rough and very warm, but fortunately the breeze never leaves us! Sun protection is essential: factor 50 to protect us from the equatorial sun.

La Digue

We are sad to say goodbye to Praslin, as the local people and the resort staff have also become part of our journey, and we take the Cat Cocos to La Digue, just 15 minutes away. It feels like a small village here: you get around by bicycle and can explore the whole island in a day...

We try to take a short excursion to Sister, Coco and Félicité islands, but as soon as we get into the water to see the coral reef and the seabed teeming with fish, tropical rain brings our little excursion to an end. We return to the harbour, where the sun is shining, and head to Anse Source d'Argent.

The photo speaks for itself: the colours are stunning and everything looks unreal! We are left speechless by the scenery and the calm, crystal-clear sea, with the coral reef extending right up to the shore. We enjoy the sunset with a cocktail on this bay, which you never want to leave.

The central location of our guest house, Zerof Guesthouse, allows us to cycle all around the island and encounter the wonderful tortoises walking along the roadside.

We continue towards Grand Anse in the south-east of the island, a very beautiful and spacious beach. Following a walking trail through the tropical forest, we reach Petite Anse and the magnificent Anse Cocos, deserted and cloudy but still utterly captivating. Leaving this island makes us feel very wistful, so we take the opportunity to buy some lovely souvenirs near the harbour.

Mahé

Our final island, Mahé, awaits us for the last few days of our trip... Unfortunately, the sun is not on our side and we have clouds and rain, but that is to be expected during the rainy season.

Everything seems more commercial and different from what we have seen on the other islands. Prices are higher, Beau Vallon is a very long bay, and the weather does not change as quickly. We take a trip to Victoria and find everything closed. The city is very small, but the islanders’ smiles and cheerfulness mean that even we have fun in the rain.

I RECOMMEND THESE ISLANDS TO EVERYONE: THEY ARE PARADISE ON EARTH!

We would like to end with our thanks: to Creole Travel Services for the extremely punctual transfers by land and sea, to Antonella at SeyVillas for the care and attention she gave to our booking, and to all the resort and guest house staff we met during our journey.
