Dream Holiday at Cote D'Or Beach
I always follow my instincts when choosing a holiday. Curiosity, inner impulses, wanderlust, new experiences. These feelings have already taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world and instantly made me eager for my next voyage of discovery. This time, I wanted to travel with my boyfriend. At first, we were not at all sure where we wanted to go. We did not want a city break, but a holiday spent entirely on the beach did not feel quite right to me either. So the search began. Search engines were working overtime, friends and colleagues were quizzed, and no library was safe from me. In the end, the decisive tip came from a colleague who told me about his diving holiday in the Seychelles. My curiosity was immediately piqued. The Seychelles? Until then, I had imagined they would be rather unsuitable for what we had in mind. But I could not stop thinking about the photos and travel reports. So, on the spur of the moment, we decided to book.
On 10 February, we flew with Condor from Frankfurt to the Seychelles. As it was a direct flight, we arrived at our dream destination feeling very well rested. Thanks to our very early arrival on Mahé, we were even lucky enough to watch the beautiful sunrise. The colours of the island, the air and the scenery alone left me in no doubt that we had chosen the right destination. However, our little journey was not quite over yet, as we still had to travel to Praslin. We reached the island by ferry, which took around an hour.
Then it was finally time to head to our accommodation, Pirogue Lodge. Despite the long journey behind us, we were both delighted with the place from the very beginning. Nadia, the receptionist, gave us an incredibly warm welcome, along with refreshing towels and a welcome drink. She recommended things for us to do and provided us with all the important information about the island, including things we should avoid. When she showed us our room, I truly felt as though I had arrived in paradise. Sun loungers were brought to the beach for us free of charge every day, including towels. The staff at Pirogue Lodge, especially Nadia, went out of their way each day to make our holiday unforgettable.
We spent the first two days at Cote D'Or Beach, which we could see every day from our lovely balcony. It felt as though we had the entire beach to ourselves. No hustle and bustle, just the sound of the sea and the beautiful colours of the surroundings and the clear water.

When we reached our destination, however, we felt as though we must be in completely the wrong place. We could not see the sea, and there was no one else around apart from the two of us. The bus driver assured us that we were in the right place and simply had to walk a little further. The route to the beautiful beach was an experience in itself. We found ourselves in the middle of a forest (mosquito repellent is definitely advisable here), which led us through the Seychelles’ incredible plant life. It is certainly easier to reach the beach by car, but I can honestly say that every minute of the walk was worthwhile. In this case, the photos speak for themselves.

At the end of the day, we had a drink at the beach café, whose owner even drove us back to our lodge. The friendliness and warmth of the people who live here are incomparable.
One thing I have completely overlooked so far is the excellent food in the Seychelles. Every day brought a culinary highlight, and fish lovers will certainly be in their element here. The food at our lodge was particularly delicious, with a different dish of the day served each day. My personal highlight, however, was our visit to Les Lauriers. Tucked away in a slightly hidden location, it offers a barbecue and a very tasty buffet every evening. The owner does the grilling himself and takes excellent care of his guests.
Sadly, after a week, our wonderful holiday came to an end, and it has now already been five months since our trip. I am still absolutely enchanted by Praslin, our accommodation, the beautiful beach, the sea and the people who live here. In conclusion, all I can say is that I would return at any time and would recommend it to everyone, no matter what kind of holiday they are looking for. There is something here for everyone. Whether you enjoy hiking or cycling, want to relax on the beach and simply switch off, savour good food or discover the diverse plant and animal life, the Seychelles combine all of these interests. It is a travel experience that will remain unforgettable.
