Honeymoon on Four Dream Islands

We spent a long time deciding where to go on our honeymoon. We wanted it to be somewhere special, and it took us a while to settle on the Seychelles. As we simply wanted to enjoy the trip, it was clear that we would have everything organised through a travel agency. After a little research, we came across the excellent SeyVillas website and quickly put together our trip using the Island Hopping Configurator. Unfortunately, one of our chosen accommodations was already fully booked, but we were soon offered a lovely alternative.
We also appreciated being warned in good time about the possible presence of seaweed on the beaches, so we chose different accommodation on Praslin. We flew with Air Seychelles, but due to radar failures and the ban on night flights in Düsseldorf, instead of departing at 20:15 on Monday, we did not finally set off for the Seychelles until around 13:00 on Tuesday. So we spent the first day of our honeymoon at the airport and on the plane rather than on the beach.

<beach>47|Beau Vallon</beach>47|Beau Vallon We had planned 6 days on Mahé, but in the end we only had 5. The hotel was in Bel Ombre, the staff were friendly and the apartment was spacious, but unfortunately it was not as close to Beau Vallon beach as we had thought. It also rained quite a lot in Bel Ombre during the first two days, although fortunately the sun was shining at the beach.

The Botanical Gardens in Victoria are very interesting (you can see Seychelles palms, coco de mer palms and several giant tortoises there, for example), as are the fish market and the small Natural History Museum.
On our final day on Mahé, we treated ourselves to dinner at La Perle Noir Restaurant – highly recommended!

<beach>83|Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or)</beach>83|Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) Although Côte d’Or beach is excellent (fine sand, palm trees, snorkelling opportunities and so on), Anse Lazio is also a must-see. We arrived early, and it was simply wonderful to have the beach all to ourselves.

<beach>75|Anse Lazio</beach>75|Anse Lazio The following day, we also visited the wonderful Vallée de Mai National Park, where you can see the native plants growing in the forest. The highlight of our stay on Praslin, however, was a half-day trip to Curieuse Island, where giant tortoises roam freely. Simply fantastic! For a romantic dinner, we recommend Café de Arts. Not cheap, but absolutely superb!

Giant tortoise on CurieuseGiant tortoise on Curieuse The highlight of our honeymoon, however, was the three days on La Digue. There are hardly any cars here, and everyone gets around by bicycle, which you can hire for 100 rupees (about €6.50) per day. On our first evening, there was a gospel concert. We had never seen anything like it before, and it was an interesting experience.

Anse Source d'ArgentAnse Source d'Argent The island’s best beach is Anse Source d'Argent, and the 100-rupee admission fee for the nature reserve where it is located is absolutely worth paying.

Anse Source d'ArgentAnse Source d'Argent There are also two small bars here where you can enjoy fruit, coconut water, fresh juices or cocktails, and as well as soaking up the sun, you can also go snorkelling in excellent conditions.

<beach>15|Anse Source d'Argent</beach>15|Anse Source d'Argent Sometimes the fish come so close to the beach that you can almost touch them.

Anse Source d’ArgentAnse Source d’Argent As the island is quite small, you can explore the whole of it by bicycle. Every now and then, you come across small restaurants and bars where you can recharge with delicious fruit juices, for example at Anse Banane. This time, our romantic dinner was at Belle Vue Restaurant, where you can not only enjoy very good food but also take in views of the western side of the island and the sunset. The latter was ‘stolen’ from us by a few clouds, as though they wanted to give us a token excuse to return. But we did not need one anyway! :-)
