Simply a Dream Holiday
For years, we had wondered whether the Seychelles would really be a worthwhile destination for us, as prices are also very high and we are actually fans of the Maldives. In the end, we decided to give it a try, and SeyVillas seemed ideal for arranging our trip.
After reading many of the travel reports, we decided against island hopping and spent nine nights solely on La Digue. So, with high expectations but also plenty of preconceptions, we set off. SeyVillas organised everything brilliantly – many thanks for that.
We had booked the flights ourselves through Emirates, which worked out perfectly. We arrived on La Digue at 7 am and finally reached our hotel, Patatran, at around midday. Everything went smoothly, so many thanks to Creole Travel Service! We received a warm welcome and were able to move into our suite straight away. We were given a huge honeymoon suite with superb sea views and a large terrace.

It was a dream, and when we saw the little bay, our holiday already felt perfect. The hotel is right beside a gorgeous bay reminiscent of Source d’Argent.

Swimming can sometimes be a little difficult, as the surf can be quite strong, but the scenery alone more than makes up for it. Snorkelling is possible, although as regular visitors to the Maldives, we did not find it particularly appealing, as it simply cannot compare. The hotel also has a small pool, so there was always somewhere to cool off, which was perfect for us. We had booked breakfast, and it was very good by local standards and certainly more than sufficient for us. We also tried the buffet dinner twice (€22), and that was perfectly fine too. Otherwise, we preferred getting food from the takeaways in La Passe, as it was considerably cheaper (€3.50).
Of course, we hired bicycles from the hotel (€7) and used them to explore the island. The bicycles were in good condition, and if there was ever a problem, they were repaired immediately – we can definitely recommend hiring them. Exploring the island by bicycle is simply a must, even though the hills and the heat sometimes made it quite strenuous and sweaty. As the hotel is a little out of the way, having a bicycle is useful for shopping or getting food from the takeaways. Naturally, our route took us to the most beautiful beach in the world, Anse Source d`Argent.

The sight was breathtaking and fulfilled every expectation of a dream beach. You do have to pay €7 admission, but what is €7 when you are on holiday in the Seychelles? We went there three times, and on our final visit, we were admitted free of charge. Of course, you also have to visit Grand Anse.

This dream beach was completely different, but no less beautiful. Swimming is officially prohibited here because of the strong currents, but if you are suitably cautious and go at low tide, swimming is certainly possible – and the waves make it great fun. We did not visit any other beaches, as there simply was not enough time, and we also wanted to spend some time at our own bay, (Anse Patates). There would undoubtedly have been plenty more to discover, though.
Apart from two brief showers, we had superb weather throughout, with plenty of sunshine and a few clouds. So, in that respect too, it was a perfect holiday. If there was anything negative to mention, it would be the many tiny ants in our bungalow, which unfortunately were not dealt with during our entire stay. The cushions on the sun loungers also urgently need replacing. If you would like to have dinner at the hotel, we recommend paying for it there, as it is considerably cheaper than booking it in advance through SeyVillas for €30.
All in all, it was a wonderful, unforgettable holiday and certainly not our last in the Seychelles!
