Our Expectations Were Exceeded

La Digue

After departing Düsseldorf on time at 15:25 with Emirates, we landed in Mahé at 06:45 following a pleasant flight. Once we had completed the immigration formalities, Creole staff showed us to a minibus which took us to the ferry port. Unfortunately, the ferry was delayed by 1 hour, and we did not set off until 11:00, seated on the upper deck (definitely book this), heading for Praslin, where we changed to the smaller ferry to La Digue. When we arrived, a taxi was waiting to take us to our accommodation for the next 5 nights. Up to this point, the entire transfer had gone very smoothly. We immediately felt at home in the accommodation and also hired bicycles there for 100 rupees each.
The beaches on La Digue are absolutely beautiful. Our favourites were Anse und die Petite Cour, where swimming was very enjoyable, and of course Anse Source d'Argent.
Petit Anse, MahéPetit Anse, MahéWith numerous restaurants, takeaways and supermarkets, there is no problem finding food and supplies. Another highlight was the tour around the south of the island. I did this with 4 other people and a guide, as the route is difficult to find and fairly challenging. The next morning, we were collected and the ferry departed on time for Praslin.

Praslin

We stayed at the Hirondelle guesthouse and were once again pleasantly surprised. Everything was clean, with a lovely bathroom, an enormous fridge and exceptionally friendly owners and staff. Restaurants and supermarkets were also within walking distance. Unlike Grand Anse on the other side of the island, the beach directly opposite had no seaweed washed up on it.
We took a trip to the Fond Ferdinand nature reserve, which is said to be more beautiful than Vallée de Mai. We did not like the fact that visitors were only allowed to enter the reserve as part of a guided group (on the way back, we dropped behind and continued on our own).Fond Ferdinand, PraslinFond Ferdinand, Praslin You should definitely travel by bus (5 rupees regardless of the distance) and book a day trip to Curieuse Island. This can also be done inexpensively with one of the many taxi boats.Travelling by water taxiTravelling by water taxi

Mahé

Our final island was Mahé, where we stayed for 5 days. Here too, the beach right outside our accommodation was beautiful. One of the highlights was the Anse Major Trail , which requires sure-footedness in places but rewards you with breathtaking views. Afterwards, you can take a taxi boat back to the starting point.

-We had stocked up on plenty of mosquito repellent and mosquito coils, but took everything home unused.
-We had expected food to be expensive, but paid no more than €20 in a restaurant and €4–5 at a takeaway for grilled tuna with side dishes.
-We met only friendly and helpful local people.
-All transfers ran perfectly and on time.

A dream holiday in paradise (but you should always keep an umbrella in your rucksack)!
