Hello,
we are Susanne and Sven, and we booked our holiday on La Digue through SeyVillas. As this was our first trip to the Seychelles, we booked the ‘all-inclusive carefree package’, including all transfers. We received plenty of vouchers, which guided us smoothly all the way to La Digue. The organisation was flawless, exactly as you would hope.
On our very first day, we hired bicycles directly from our Pension Fidele and cycled to Anse Severe, which became our favourite beach. Favourite beach, Anse Severe
Giant tortoises live near the beach, and we visited and fed them regularly throughout the rest of our holiday.

In the wonderfully warm water, we put on our snorkelling masks and watched the many fish, and we even managed to get up close to a sea turtle.
One thing you need to keep an eye on is the tide, as snorkelling is not possible everywhere at low tide. Our local representative gave us a tide chart showing when the tide would be in or out, which was always useful to know.
There are plenty of stalls right by the beach and along the way where you can buy fruit or have a fresh fruit platter or juice prepared for you. Everywhere you look, you can spot geckos scurrying across the walls and ceilings. Gecko
Because of the time difference, getting up early at 6 o’clock was no trouble at all. It also meant we could make the most of the whole day. Today, we visited L'Union Estate & Anse Source d'Argent.

The beach was deserted, and strolling across the beautiful sand was pure relaxation. It was amusing to watch the little crabs scuttling into their holes.

The enormous granite rocks rising from the sand are truly impressive. Impressive rocks
On the way back, we stopped at a supermarket to pick up a few things for breakfast.
The next morning, we headed to the harbour, as we had booked a catered snorkelling boat trip to the islands of Les Soeurs and Felicitas through Nathalie from SeyVillas. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. The motorboat took us to several different snorkelling spots.

At around lunchtime, we were taken to the island of Grand Soeur, where we found our own favourite dream beach.
The waves in the turquoise water were impressive.

Lying beneath the palm trees, we enjoyed the peace and quiet, watched the beautiful white tropicbirds and giant tortoises, and waited for lunch to be served.
The Creole food was delicious, and everyone was very friendly.
But even the most wonderful day must eventually come to an end.

Early on Saturday morning, we went snorkelling at Anse Patates during high tide. Today, we were able to watch a ray. For the afternoon, we decided to explore the other side of the island. We cycled as far as Grand Anse.(

This was another very beautiful beach, but we wanted to continue further. Once we had finally found the path to the other beaches, the adventure began. We climbed up rocky slopes, Rocky slopes then descended through the jungle, always taking care not to lose the path. In the end, you are rewarded with impressive views and, of course, wonderful sandy beaches such as Anse Cocos, where you receive a friendly welcome and can enjoy a fresh coconut and some fruit.

It is easy to spend plenty of time on the beach, relaxing in the partial shade beneath the tropical trees.
We will always have fond memories of the return journey through the jungle, which does not necessarily follow the same route as the way there. You see plenty of plants and animals, as well as the foundations of buildings from times gone by.
On Sunday morning, we went snorkelling again. With such wonderfully warm water, it was simply a must, and afterwards we relaxed on the beach. Later, we cycled along the road to its end and planned to make our way through the rocks to Anse Caïman.
This is a very challenging route and certainly not without danger. The ‘path’, if you can call it that, is occasionally marked with arrows to prevent you from climbing entirely in the wrong direction.

Unfortunately, we did not make it all the way to Anse Caïman and turned back before reaching it. You should definitely begin this excursion in the morning to ensure you have enough time.
On Monday, we decided to climb to the island’s highest point. We cycled towards Snack Bellevue until the route became too steep, then continued on foot.
The very steep road made for a strenuous but enjoyable hike, and we were rewarded with some lovely sights along the way.

When we reached the restaurant, the hike was not yet over, as we wanted to go right to the top. We had been advised to keep left, and this did indeed lead us all the way up, where we could enjoy panoramic views in every direction.
On the way back, we stopped at the restaurant for a refreshing juice and watched our first fruit bats flying overhead.
Eventually, even the most wonderful holiday comes to an end, and it is time to return home to the climate we know. The return journey went just as smoothly as the outward journey, and we would once again like to praise the SeyVillas team for their superb organisation. A huge THANK YOU for this unforgettable holiday, which will certainly not be our last.
Best wishes
Susanne and Sven
