Seychelles: This Is as Close as You Can Get to Paradise on Earth!

Finally back in the Seychelles… beneath the water, a sea of colours; above it, a festival of colours. Islands that look as though they slipped from the gods’ hands during a game of dice, only to land in the middle of the ocean off the east coast of Africa. After falling in love with this beautiful corner of the world in 2011, we knew that we would return one day.

We spent the first 10 days on Mahé at Beau Vallon, in a hotel we had booked privately. Unfortunately, the first 4 days were very rainy.

We also wanted to visit the perfume factory, where we stocked up on fragrant sprays again, and head right up to the Tea Factory to buy some wonderfully smooth black tea. We enjoy it back home when the weather is cold and miserable, and it brings back fond memories…..

We also had an adventurous bus journey to Victoria to visit the Sir Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market and buy spices and so on.

As we had made an early start, we continued straight on to Grand Anse, one of our favourite beaches.

On the way to Grand AnseOn the way to Grand Anse We were just as impressed as we had been back then. Of course, we also spent a day at Anse Source d'Argent and explored all its little paths.

Swimming at Anse Source d'ArgentSwimming at Anse Source d'Argent We booked a tour around the south of the island through Sunny Trail Guide. It took us across deserted beaches, ducking along winding jungle paths and clambering over granite rocks to Anse Marron – another magical little spot.

Every day, we cycled to a different beach, where we buried our feet in the powder-soft sand and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Every now and then, dogs joined us as they searched for a shady spot too. One of our favourite places became Petite Anse, where there are now a few shelters made from palm fronds. You pay a small fee to use them and also receive a delicious coconut – one to eat and one to drink.

We cycled there quite often, explored the nooks between the granite rocks, had great fun in the fantastic waves or simply gazed out at the beautiful turquoise sea. As we had brought a drone with us this time, we were able to see the island from above and were thrilled by the view.

We usually picked up food from one of the takeaways, which serve inexpensive and delicious meals, then ate on our balcony with a ‘nice glass of red’, or enjoyed the beautiful sunsets by the harbour with a Seybrew. To round off our holiday, we treated ourselves to an exciting trip up Nid d'Aigle for a delicious sunset dinner and wonderful views across the island.

On Nid d'AigleOn Nid d'Aigle It is a shame that traffic has increased so much on this small island; back then, there were only 3 taxis. There is also construction going on at every turn, which could perhaps begin to affect the island’s charm in a few years’ time.

All in all, everything with SeyVillas went smoothly and was very straightforward. There was always someone available to help, and all the necessary paperwork was ready for us. We were also delighted with our accommodation on La Digue. Everything was very new and spacious.

We are going to save up for a while now and, one day, book another holiday in paradise – through SeyVillas, of course.
