Dream Honeymoon in the Seychelles

We spent our 11-day honeymoon in the Seychelles, and it was one of the most wonderful holidays we have ever had.

1. Destination: The main island of Mahé

After landing on Mahé, we received a warm welcome and were driven straight to our accommodation. We had chosen the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare in advance. The hotel enjoys a wonderful beachfront location, and on our very first evening we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

2. Destination: Silhouette Island

After four days on Mahé, we continued on to Silhouette Island. The boat journey takes around 40 minutes and is not for the faint-hearted when the sea is rough. We spent most of our trip on Silhouette Island and would return in a heartbeat.

The Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa is the only hotel of its size on Silhouette and leaves nothing to be desired. The beach there is almost perfect, and you can enjoy wonderful walks along the coast.

The excursion is offered by the Hilton Labriz Resort once a week and is very expensive. The sea was quite rough during the boat crossing. Anyone prone to seasickness would be better off not booking this excursion.

3. Destination: Praslin

Once we arrived on Praslin, we took a taxi to Vallée de Mai National Park, where the Coco de Mer grows. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to book a guide. Afterwards, we continued to Anse Lazio, one of Praslin’s most beautiful beaches.

4. Destination: La Digue

Our next stop was La Digue, where we hired bicycles to explore the island. Unfortunately, Anse Source d'Argent was very touristy and crowded, so we were a little disappointed. La Digue is considered one of the Seychelles’ most unspoilt islands and is perfect for leisurely cycling.

Anse Source d'Argent, La DigueAnse Source d'Argent, La Digue All in all, you should allow more time for Praslin and La Digue than we did. We would only recommend a day trip with reservations; it is far better to spend a few days on each island so that you can truly experience and soak up their character and atmosphere.

To sum up, we can say that we had the perfect honeymoon. The Seychelles have so much to offer, and words and pictures can only begin to convey just how breathtakingly beautiful this archipelago is. We would return to the Seychelles in a heartbeat, but it is advisable to stay for longer than 11 days.

Booking through SeyVillas was excellent, as were the arrangements on the ground. I have already recommended SeyVillas as a specialist tour operator to friends who are planning to travel to the Seychelles in January.
