Discovering the Seychelles
We arrived in the Seychelles as a family on 31 December 2023. We were welcomed by CREOLE SERVICES. We spent our first night on Mahé so that we could enjoy a relaxed New Year’s Eve at Hotel La Roussette, not far from Anse aux Pins. The next day, we took the ferry to Praslin. We stayed at Casadani Luxury Guest House. The staff were very kind and helpful. They were more than happy to share their recommendations for outings. We visited the Vallée de Mai, home to the famous coco de mer palms and a wide variety of other palm trees. We continued our day at the magnificent Anse Lazio, where we enjoyed the fine sand and crystal-clear water.
The next day, we went to Curieuse Island, where we saw the giant tortoises that live there. We then enjoyed a delicious barbecue on the beach. In the afternoon, we went snorkelling near Saint Pierre Island and discovered its exceptional underwater world.
We then headed to La Digue, where we stayed at Fleur de Lys. It was quite well located, with everything nearby, including restaurants and various shops, while the sublime Anse Source d'Argent was a 30-minute walk away.
We made the most of the peaceful surroundings by exploring the island by bicycle, stopping along the way to enjoy all its beautiful coves. We also had some lovely cocktails at Chez Jules on Anse Banane.
We continued our trip on Mahé, where we stayed at Alha Villa. It was more urban than the other islands, so it felt quite different. We decided to hire a car so that we could get around more easily and quickly. It took us a little while to adjust to driving on the left, but having an automatic gearbox made it fairly easy. We explored the capital, Victoria, including the Clock Tower, the museum and the colourful market.
The next day, we decided to explore more of the island’s higher ground. We followed the Copolia Trail. There was an entrance fee of SCR 100 per adult. With the children, it took us around 50 minutes to reach the summit, where we were rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view over Sainte Anne Bay and Eden Island.
To end the day, we went for a swim at the small Anse Parnel, which was very pleasant and not too busy. The next day, we decided to visit the famous Beau Vallon.

We ate there before ending the day at the Takamaka distillery in La Plaine Saint-André. We learnt about the production methods and strolled through the magnificent tropical garden. We finished the tour with a tasting of all the rums they produce.
This was our first trip to the Seychelles. We had arranged everything with SeyVillas before we arrived. Our accommodation and transfers had all been booked in advance, which allowed us to feel much more relaxed during our stay. Thank you, SeyVillas!
