At last, the time had come! After landing on Mahé, we took the ferry to Praslin and our honeymoon in the Seychelles could begin.
For the first 2 days, we hired a car to explore the island ourselves. One highlight of our first day was Anse Lazio beach – highly recommended, especially at sunset.Anse Lazio, Praslin
On the second day, we went to Vallée de Mai, where we walked through dense palm forests and marvelled at the unique Coco de Mer nuts. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse in the early afternoon, so we ended the day with a meal at a restaurant, safely out of the rain.
The highlight of our third day was our trip to Curieuse Island. We travelled by boat across the turquoise waters to see the famous giant tortoises. A guide took us around the island. Afterwards, everyone had some time to explore independently, followed by a small Creole BBQ. We then sailed past the beautiful island of St.
Pierre and were able to take a few photos. St Pierre
As it also happened to be the national holiday that day, we went to a beach party in the evening. Local music and specialities created a lovely atmosphere. Our first few days on Praslin were simply breathtaking, and we were looking forward to the adventures still to come!
Our second stop: La Digue.
Our highlight on La Digue was definitely the excursion to Anse Source d'Argent, where we travelled in transparent kayaks to the famous Robinson Crusoe beach (Anse Pierrot). We also had a little ‘survival training’ session, during which we were shown how to open a coconut properly.

Overall, what we particularly liked about La Digue was that there were hardly any cars and everywhere was accessible by bicycle.
The view over the island from Belle Vue restaurant was also beautiful – although the ‘climb’ should not be underestimated in the humid heat. By the time we reached the top, we were exhausted, but the view was worth it.
There are also plenty of small beach bars, such as Bikini Bottom Beach Bar, where you can enjoy fresh, homemade smoothies.
Our final stop was Mahé. The weather was quite changeable during our stay, so we could not plan too far ahead. However, we hired another car for the final 2 days to explore the island. We were impressed by the tall forests in the island’s interior and the views from above. One highlight was our stop at Takamaka Rum Distillery , where we were able to sample several varieties. We also explored the market in Victoria. Victoria itself was interesting to see, but we soon found ourselves heading back to the beach. We spent our final afternoon and evening at Kafe Kreol – a lovely beachfront restaurant with sun loungers, making it an inviting place to linger.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the Seychelles and would definitely recommend a visit. The warmth and openness of the local people also deserve a special mention – they were always happy to help and offer useful tips!
Looking back, Praslin and La Digue were definitely our favourites. We would have liked to spend another 1–2 days there to explore a few more places that, unfortunately, we did not manage to visit, mostly because of the weather.
