Our Honeymoon – an Unforgettable Adventure

Praslin

Our honeymoon began on Praslin, at Villas de Mer near Grand Anse. We were immediately captivated by the beautiful white-sand beach and crystal-clear sea. At this resort, we were able to enjoy countless Creole dishes.

Romantic walks were a lovely part of our stay on the island, along with spectacular sunsets accompanied by the sound of the sea.

Our first excursion was by catamaran, stopping at St Pierre Island to go snorkelling before continuing to Curieuse Island, where we saw the giant tortoises up close and followed a walking trail across the island, encountering all kinds of crabs and geckos.

Our second excursion included a visit to the Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage nature reserve where you can see the coco de mer, which grows only in the Seychelles. Besides the coco de mer, the reserve is home to many varieties of palms and mangroves, where numerous geckos and birds hide, including the famous Seychelles black parrot.

After a generous lunch by the ocean, we relaxed on the island’s most beautiful and famous beach: Anse Lazio.

La Digue

After spending our first few days on Praslin, we moved on to the smaller, wilder island of La Digue, a true masterpiece of nature.

We stayed at the Le Relax guest house, where we were welcomed with a fruit aperitif and then treated to delicious Indian and Creole food.

Our first visit was to Anse Source d'Argent, an enchanting beach with the silver-coloured granite boulders typical of the island, surrounded by a wonderful coral reef.

Along the way, you can see many spices and vanilla plantations, where local artisans grow and sell vanilla. There is also a tortoise sanctuary where you can feed them.

As there are no motor vehicles on the island apart from a couple of taxis, over the following days we hired bicycles, which are the only way to discover some hidden corners of paradise.

Our first bicycle ride took us around the northern part of the island, stopping to admire the beaches and enjoy fresh coconut water.

The route follows a road that climbs and descends, revealing beaches and landscapes hidden within the forest.

The following day, we explored the southern part of the island, stopping at Grand Anse to relax in the ocean’s wonderfully clear waters.

On our final day, we enjoyed a relaxing walk through the centre, buying souvenirs and immersing ourselves in everyday Creole life.

Our thoughts

The sea is uniquely awe-inspiring, and it is wonderful and unforgettable to be there at dusk, watching the sun sink and suddenly disappear behind the mountains of the nearby island.

La Digue is a timeless island that attracts many visitors with its peace and tranquillity, as well as its beautiful beaches.

The beaches of Anse Lazio and Source d'Argent have provided the backdrop for countless adverts and film scenes, so they are well worth a visit…

Our local point of contact was ‘Creole’, whose staff were always kind and ready to resolve any issues.

This trip will always remain in our hearts, not only because it was our honeymoon, but also because places this beautiful and enchanting are usually only seen on postcards.

A unique and unforgettable experience, thanks also to the organisation by SeyVillas.
