We had a villa with a private pool and private access to the beach. Everything is very tasteful and luxurious. The garden is like a small jungle. This naturally means that there are various animals that sometimes wander into the interior, such as millipedes, lizards, and cockroaches. We simply caught them with a glass and released them back into the garden. There were also mosquitoes due to the abundance of greenery, but mosquito spraying was used during our stay. The pool is cleaned every morning. The villa was not overlooked. The breakfast is very good; you could order two different dishes and also get a bread basket. It was more than plentiful. We had half board, which we wouldn't do again. For dinner, you get a starter, a main course, and a dessert from the regular menu. That was too much for us. In retrospect, an à la carte meal would have been sufficient for us and probably would have been cheaper. The food was nothing special. Some of the dishes we tried were not good at all. For example, the tuna tartare wasn't particularly fresh, and the octopus curry tasted only of black pepper. Round Island offers a variety of activities. We snorkeled, went canoeing, and visited Moyenne Island, home to free-roaming giant tortoises. One morning, we went to Mahé and hiked the Copolia Trail. From the vantage point, we had another fantastic view of St. Anne Marine Park and, in the distance, the islands of Praslin and La Digue. The boat ride from Round Island to Mahé and back is offered free of charge at certain times of the day.
