My Daughter’s Wedding

We travelled to the Seychelles in September 2015 as a group of 8. The reason for our trip was my daughter’s wedding at Anse Lazio on 22 September.

After landing on Mahé, we continued to Praslin in a small propeller plane, where we spent our holiday.

First of all, a heartfelt thank you to SeyVillas for the excellent advice and organisation, and of course to the Castello Beach team, who made the week an unforgettable experience.

We spent a wonderful week at the Castello Beach Hotel. My daughter, her husband and their witnesses stayed in the Castello Beach Villa, right next to the hotel. The hotel and villa are both truly excellent, and the small yet cosy and well-maintained grounds made us feel at home straight away. The hotel’s small, beautiful beach offers plenty of space to linger and relax. Thanks to the hotel’s wonderful location, the beach is almost deserted.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We could visit our ‘children’ in the villa at any time and were always warmly welcomed there by the housekeeper. The organisation of the wedding reception that evening at the Castello Beach Villa was simply fantastic, and we wanted for nothing. We celebrated a wonderful wedding in a cosy and private atmosphere. The wedding barbecue organised by the hotel was delicious and plentiful, and Patsy’s team – she is the hotel manager – even joined us for the evening’s celebrations. It felt like being among friends! The perfect end to a beautiful day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Seychelles and also did a great deal of exploring. As our time was limited, we hired a car and explored the island independently, as there are so many places that simply have to be seen. Although the left-hand traffic and narrow, steep roads take some getting used to, exploring the island is a real adventure and well worth it. Thanks to the excellent tips from Patsy and Mirijam, we were almost always out discovering the island’s beautiful corners. An excursion to one of the many stunning beaches, such as Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette or Grande Anse, is not to be missed. Vallée de Mai and Zimbabwe mountain peak are also well worth a visit. From here, there are fantastic views across the islands of the Seychelles. The view is especially breathtaking at sunset.

On our penultimate day, we had booked a day trip to Curieuse Island on a small boat. We were first collected from the hotel and taken by motorboat from Grande Anse to the island. Once there, we were free to spend the morning as we wished. After a delicious barbecue on the beach, we hiked across the island to see the giant tortoises. On our way through the jungle, we saw countless crabs, fish and small sharks. Afterwards, we were taken by boat to a snorkelling spot, where we could round off the day. The Seychelles are an absolute dream, both above and below the water.

We can wholeheartedly recommend the Seychelles to everyone! A true paradise on earth and definitely worth the journey.
