Honeymoon in Paradise
We flew with Emirates on 11 June. After one change in Dubai and around 14 hours, we finally arrived on Mahé. From there, we continued to Praslin on a small Air Seychelles propeller plane. Our driver was already waiting for us and took us to our first accommodation, Les Villas d'Or. It was a beautifully maintained resort and the perfect place to begin our honeymoon. Very peaceful, not too large and right on Anse Volbert beach. I had checked beforehand which coast tended to have a lot of seaweed, but there was hardly any at all. As a result, we had no problems with sand flies either and could relax on the almost always deserted beach.
We also went on an island tour from Praslin. First, we visited Cousine Island, which is home to thousands of birds. The guided tour was really interesting, and it was wonderful to watch the animals. The beach was also absolutely stunning.

From there, we continued to Curieuse Island. We first enjoyed a delicious barbecue, which gave us plenty of energy for our hike through the mangroves.

The vegetation and scenery are breathtakingly beautiful: black granite rocks, deep-green leaves and the turquoise sea. After quite a long hike, we reached our destination: the giant tortoises. They are absolutely amazing animals, and you can feed and stroke them (they feel like an old leather sofa).

Afterwards, we went snorkelling in the bay at Petite Anse. The underwater world is also home to a huge variety of fish. We even saw rays, moray eels and a sea turtle.

Of course, we also visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Vallée de Mai’, with its famous Coco de Mer palms. The guided tour was very interesting, and the coconuts really are enormous. Afterwards, we headed to Anse Lazio, a dream beach that simply has to be seen. The water was so clear and turquoise that it felt like being in a swimming pool.

The next day, we went straight to another dream beach, Anse Georgette. You need special permission to visit because you have to walk through a 5-star resort. The manager of our accommodation arranged this for us. We did not hire a car, as we were not entirely comfortable with driving on the left. The bus could take you almost anywhere for around €0.30. On Praslin, buses ran hourly, while on Mahé they ran every half-hour.

We then travelled from Praslin to Mahé on the Cat Coco, which unfortunately did not agree with my stomach—the sea was apparently particularly rough that day. The entire transfer with Creole also went very smoothly, and we did not have to worry about a thing, which was very pleasant.
On Mahé, we stayed at the Beau Bamboo guest house near Beau Vallon. The location was excellent, the furnishings were full of lovely details and very cosy, and the atmosphere felt wonderfully homely. The beach was just across the road, there was a small supermarket right next door, and restaurants were also close by. Of course, we also visited the market in Victoria. You can easily explore the city in one morning.

Another experience we can highly recommend is the hike to Anse Major. It can only be reached on foot or by boat. We had been so captivated by the natural surroundings that we simply had to go on another hike, and the beach was well worth the walk.
As we set off early, there was no one else there. Even later, it only ‘filled up’ to around 10 people. For the return journey, you could take a water taxi for 200 rupees per person. Spending our honeymoon in the Seychelles was the best decision we could have made. The islands are truly beautiful, with plenty to experience while still allowing us to make the most of our time together.
