Dream Honeymoon Across 3 Islands in 14 Days

From the initial idea to booking confirmation

After the wedding comes the honeymoon. We wanted it to be something truly special, and following recommendations from friends, we chose the Seychelles as our destination and booked the whole trip through SeyVillas.
Thanks to the clear website and detailed presentation of each accommodation, it felt as though putting the trip together took only minutes. We received our first quotation after 2 days, and following a few minor adjustments and confirmations, the trip – including 3 island-hopping stops and island transfers – was booked within a week. That was impressively quick!
But what was it actually like? We will tell you now...

Accommodation with a view of Mahé

When we arrived at the airport, Creole Travel Service was already waiting for us and gave us a very warm welcome – unlike the weather. It was pouring with rain. But never mind. At least it was warm. A lovely lady from Creole took us to our first accommodation, the Au Fond de Mer Hotel.
It is situated in the south-east of the island at Anse Royal. Our host, Solana, was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Everything is beautifully furnished with great attention to detail, including fresh bananas and a welcome drink.
Only one word comes to mind when we think of the accommodation itself – incredible! We had a two-room apartment with a huge terrace and quite possibly the most beautiful view you could wish for on a holiday like this. But see for yourselves:

From there, we travelled all over the island in our hire car to discover its beaches, sights and attractions. Here are a few highlights to give you some ideas: Takamaka Rum Distillery, snorkelling at Anse Royal, the Copolia Trail, diving with Ocean Dream Divers in Beau Vallon Bay, Sunset Beach north of Beau Vallon, the Anchor Café and Surfers Restaurant, geocaching and a ‘natural jacuzzi’.

Dream beaches and tortoises on La Digue

La Digue has numerous beautiful beaches, which you can reach by bicycle or on foot as you make your way around the island. Make sure you have the following items in your rucksack: swimwear, towels, sun cream, a torch – in case you have to cycle back in the dark – and plenty of water.
Our bicycle tours took us from the La Digue Island Lodge (our accommodation on La Digue) along the coast, heading north and south. We had previously hired the bicycles for 100 rupees per bicycle per day from ‘Roland’, an enterprising 28-year-old local. Along the coast, we passed numerous beautiful beaches that invited us to stop, take photographs and dream. From time to time, you may also encounter a giant tortoise beside the road. They are particularly fond of having their necks stroked.

Our recommendations for bicycle tours on La Digue, starting from La Digue Island Lodge:

Heading north: Food and drinks at Chez Jules; cycle to the end of the path; then climb onwards, following the white arrows to Anse Caiiman.

Anse Cocos, La DigueAnse Cocos, La Digue Heading south: Take the cycle path towards Anse Source d’Argent; PLEASE NOTE: allow 100 rupees per person for admission to the national park; vanilla plantation; giant tortoises; traditional coconut mill and fresh fruit juices on the beach.

Relaxing and unwinding on Cerf Island

Cerf Island was the final destination of our holiday. Once again, our journey from La Digue to Cerf Island with Creole Travel Service went perfectly. Cerf is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Inner Seychelles. Measuring just 1.7 km long and 900 m wide, it offers peace and relaxation for everyone.
Besides a few local houses, there are only 3–4 tourist accommodations here. We chose L‘ Habitation. We were welcomed with a drink on arrival. We had booked the Junior Suite, which was a small, beautiful and cosy cottage with a veranda and everything we needed. It was simply perfect for the final days of our holiday.

On Saturday and Tuesday evenings, the hotel serves a Creole buffet, and it was genuinely impressive. There was freshly smoked fish, salads, side dishes and chicken curry – something for everyone. Our highlight, however, was an enormous grilled red snapper, which was simply sensational! This fish has very firm flesh and tastes fantastic with the Creole sauce. We usually ended the evening with a cocktail, the Cerf Island Special. As we had booked a honeymoon package, it was included on our first evening.

Our recommendations for the area around L´Habitation on Cerf Island:
Snorkelling on the house reef in front of L’Habitation; a canoe trip into St. Anne Marine National Park and around the island to Moyenne Island; the hiking trail across the island to the viewpoint, the island cemetery and the beach on the far side of the island (take snorkelling equipment, but beware of the rays).

Last but not least:

Many thanks to the SeyVillas team for this dream holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed every single day and are still reminiscing about all the wonderful memories. That is exactly how it should be, and it is what we wish for everyone visiting the Seychelles. Thank you!
