Honeymoon Across 3 Islands
Our journey began with a direct flight from Frankfurt to Mahé. There, we received a warm welcome from the Creole travel agency. We were given a useful map of the islands and taken straight to the harbour by bus. Unfortunately, we then had to wait there for two hours for our ferry.
The crossing to Praslin takes just over an hour, and the sea conditions may not agree with everyone. We would recommend queuing early to secure a seat towards the back, where the ferry is a little more stable in the water.
5 days on Praslin
When we arrived on Praslin, we were met by Creole again and taken by bus to our hotel, Village du Pecheur. Unfortunately, there appeared to have been an overlap with the booking, and we were moved at short notice to another nearby hotel for the first night. This was very frustrating, as the hotel was not of the same standard. As a small gesture of compensation, we were given lunch and a bottle of wine. Apart from this incident, we had a lovely time on Praslin. We would definitely recommend hiring a car for at least one day.

We visited the pearl farm, followed by the Vallée de Mai. We also drove to all the beaches.
The Vallée de Mai was very impressive. It is a must for every visitor to the island, as this is the only place where the Coco de Mer grows. With its towering trees and enormous leaves, it feels like travelling back to prehistoric times.

4 days on La Digue
The crossing to La Digue was quick and straightforward. We received a very warm welcome at the Moonlight Beach hotel. You can start exploring the island straight away from here. It is best to hire a bicycle for your entire stay, as this makes it easy and quick to get everywhere. The coconut plantation is interesting, with an old, mysterious cemetery and beautiful beaches, although these can be quite busy.
The Grand Anse was particularly exciting. Although you cannot swim there, it was great fun simply standing waist-deep in the water and experiencing the power of the high waves.
5 days on Mahé
We took a direct ferry back to Mahé. Once again, the crossing was rather exhausting due to the sea conditions, but everything was straightforward thanks to Creole. After travelling across the island by bus, we arrived at the Hilton Northolme Resort & Spa and were immediately delighted with our wonderful King Hillside villa. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves from the very first moment.
Compared with the other hotels, the breakfast here offered a much wider selection and was delicious. There was something for every taste. However, we would not book half board here again, as the buffet was simply far too expensive for what was offered. For the same price, next time we would prefer to hire a car for our entire stay and eat at the island’s restaurants or takeaways.
Otherwise, the hotel was simply wonderful, and we spent most of our time there. Canoes and snorkelling equipment were even available free of charge at the hotel’s private beach. One particularly special feature was the fruit bats, which we saw in large numbers and could watch from our balcony every evening.
We hired a car for one day to explore the island. However, we would definitely recommend hiring one for several days, as the island is larger and journeys across it can take a little longer.
Victoria’s market offers a lively contrast to the peaceful hotel. The Hindu temple right next door was very interesting and, above all, beautifully colourful. We also visited several beaches and the La Misere Exotics Garden.

All in all, it was a wonderful holiday that we will remember fondly.
A small tip: If you are particularly sensitive to mosquito bites and flea bites, you should stock up on locally produced insect repellent. Autan had no effect whatsoever on the Seychelles’ persistent pests.
