Seychelles Island Hopping – Praslin, La Digue & Mahé

After spending a long time researching the Seychelles in travel agency brochures and online, I decided to book with SeyVillas. After several phone calls and various quotations, we made our booking. The staff were very friendly on the phone, and my requested changes were handled promptly and efficiently.

Praslin

Then it was time to set off. We flew non-stop from Frankfurt to Mahé with Condor. We arrived on time and received a very warm welcome from the Creole team. We had booked a connecting flight to Praslin because my husband does not cope well with boat trips. We would recommend this to anyone. As we later heard from other travellers, around 80% of them had not felt well because the sea was often rough.

Everything went smoothly on Praslin too. We had booked a bungalow at Sea View Lodge with half board. It was a little dated, but everything was clean and well maintained. We explored the surrounding area on foot or travelled by bus. It was incredibly cheap, highly recommended, and you always paid 5 rupees per person when boarding and could travel as far as you liked. The hike to Anse Lazio was strenuous, but well worth it. An absolutely idyllic bay, with hardly anyone there.

We also visited the Vallée de Mai, but were disappointed. The entrance fee was €20, and the scenery was much the same throughout. As we later discovered on Mahé, there are cheaper alternatives.

La Digue

After 5 days, we continued to La Digue. We spent another 5 days there at Pension Michel on a half-board basis. We were welcomed at the gate and immediately felt at home. The room was beautiful, and the food was absolutely delicious. We explored the island on foot. As it is so small, you do not need a bicycle.

The highlight, of course, was Anse Soure d'Argent. The water was crystal clear and warm, with lots of colourful fish. The days passed far too quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to leave.

Mahé

We spent our final 4 days on Mahé. We stayed by Beau Vallon Beach at Romance Bungalow with breakfast included. From there, we did the most beautiful hike of our entire holiday, to Anse Major. Starting at our bungalow, we first walked along the beach, then followed the road for a while before reaching the rocks, turquoise sea and lush green jungle. It was a dream. It is very strenuous, however, as the rocks radiate heat, but it is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys walking!

We travelled to Victoria by bus and explored the island’s capital. While there, we visited the Botanical Gardens. They were beautiful and not expensive, so we would highly recommend them! We were also lucky enough to experience the Regatta on our beach, the largest event on Mahé. We sampled our way through all the food stalls, and everything was delicious.

And just like that, our 14 days in the Seychelles were over, and it was time to return home.

Conclusion

It was a dream holiday, with wonderful islands, beaches and fantastic weather. The support provided locally by the Creole team was exceptionally friendly, courteous, punctual and flexible. If we ever return, we will definitely book with SeyVillas again. It makes for a wonderfully carefree dream holiday.
