Honeymoon in Paradise…
We returned from these islands several months ago now… but our hearts remained in the ‘Sessels’…
We visited the three main islands: Mahé, La Digue and Praslin. We had magnificent weather throughout our 3-week stay, with only 2 or 3 hours of rain one morning on La Digue… and that was all. Everything is beautiful… the houses are colourful and the locals are wonderful.
On Mahé, we stayed at Anse Soleil and explored the island by car, stopping frequently for photographs and/or a swim.

On La Digue, our bungalow was near Anse Réunion at Fleur de Lys, and this island is enchanting. On Praslin, we had booked our accommodation at Cap Jean-Marie. The bungalows are right on Anse Kerlan beach (in the north-west of the island), and some have ocean views.
After making our booking, we asked SeyVillas whether we could have the ‘Petit Paradis’ bungalow, as we were on our honeymoon. They contacted Cap Jean-Marie and confirmed that everything was in order. When we arrived at our accommodation, everything had indeed been organised perfectly. The suite we had requested was waiting for us: everything was clean, the bungalow was lovely, with flowers… everywhere… as well as a wonderful surprise upon our arrival…
Every day, our bed featured a different floral arrangement, and on our final day, we were also treated to a very thoughtful gesture.

From the terrace of our bungalow, we had a very pleasant view… Two sun loungers were waiting for us by the beach. It was simply sublime… and the sunsets from the beach were wonderful!

It was on this same terrace that we enjoyed our generous breakfasts, accompanied by the gentle sound of the ocean and entertained by a red cardinal that came to beg for crumbs…
More generally, we cannot say which island we preferred, as they all have their own charms. Mahé and its capital, Victoria: its traditional market, colourful houses, little ‘Big Ben’ and the beaches of Anse Major, Beau Vallonr, Anse Soleil… everything is beautiful. And swimming with a ray at Anse Takamaka is unforgettable.
La Digue may be tiny, but its beauty is immense. There, people get around by bicycle or on foot, happily mingling with the locals… Only a few hoteliers and restaurateurs travel by car (non-electric), which we thought was a shame… It is understandable for taxis to be motorised, but it does detract from the island’s undeniable charm.
There, Anse Sévère and Anse Fourmis are very beautiful. Anse Cocos is simply paradise, and Anse Source d’Argent is every bit as charming!

L’Union Estate and its vanilla plantations are well worth seeing, and an excursion to go snorkelling or simply sail to Félicité or Grande Soeur is thoroughly enjoyable!
Praslin is different again: Anse Kerlan, of course, is splendid… But Anse Lazio has its own charm, as does Anse Volbert, which is vast and magical. We visited Curieuse, a very pretty little island with its mangroves, snorkelling and the pleasure of stroking the tortoises.

In conclusion, since returning home, we have only been thinking about one thing… Going back… because these islands are not merely beautiful… They are simply superb… magical… enchanting…
