A Paradise

It was our first stay in the Seychelles, but certainly not our last. We began planning our dream holiday with SeyVillas quite early on, and our excitement grew day by day.

Our Emirates flight from Munich, with a stopover in Dubai, went smoothly. We were lucky enough to fly on the new A380 as far as Dubai and were very pleasantly surprised. The cabin crew were excellent on every flight, and each journey was enjoyable.

We arrived in the Seychelles relatively early in the morning and were met directly at the airport by Creole Travel Service (the transfer was booked through SeyVillas), who gave us a friendly welcome and escorted us to our bus. In general, all the transfers were punctual and seamless, and the staff were always very friendly. I was pleasantly surprised time and again by how friendly and helpful the Seychellois are.

Mahé

Our journey began on the island of Mahé at Beau Vallon. We had chosen the The Beach House guesthouse for our accommodation. It was simply wonderful – we were just a few metres from the sea, the room was very clean, and there were small shops just around the corner. Right on Beau Vallon Beach, we ate at takeaway stalls (freshly cooked on the spot) and enjoyed cocktails directly on the beach.
The following days were wonderfully varied. We hired a car and explored the entire island, including its individual little coves and beaches. Driving is a bit of an adventure. The roads are not particularly wide, and the roadside ditches are very deep and often have no barriers. Despite this, driving on the left was great fun, and we would definitely recommend exploring Mahé by car.

Praslin

After 4 days, Creole Travel Service collected us again right on time and took us to the harbour. Once again, everything went smoothly. The crossing to Praslin took about 1 hour. Once there, we had a slightly adventurous journey to our accommodation, Beach Villa Guesthouse. Here, too, we received a very friendly welcome with a small welcome drink and were able to check into our room straight away. The accommodation was directly on the beach and was also clean and lovely. Unfortunately, a large amount of seaweed had washed up on the beach. The sea was still clean, however, and the seaweed did not spoil our holiday.

On Praslin, you notice that life is a little simpler than on Mahé. There were only 2 takeaways near us (of which ‘Village Take Away’ is highly recommended) and a few small shops. We were told that Anse Georgette could only be visited with prior registration or via a trail from Anse Lazio. We managed to register and took the bus from our accommodation to the Constance Lémuria Resort, where we crossed the hotel’s golf course to reach the beach. An absolute dream of a beach!

We then followed the trail to Anse Lazio and took the bus back along the east coast, through Vallée de Mai National Park, to our accommodation. A bus journey costs 5 rupees (regardless of how far you travel) – and it is quite an adventure. On Praslin, we decided to visit Fond Ferdinand, a somewhat smaller national park. The hike through the park to the top of a small mountain was definitely worthwhile! The guided tour was fun and interesting, and the view at the end was magnificent.

La Digue

After another 4 days, we continued on to La Digue. As always, the transfer was punctual and trouble-free. The crossing to the small island of La Digue took about 15 minutes. Our accommodation was directly by the harbour and in the centre. La Kaz Safran was also very clean, and the central location was a real advantage for us. La Digue also has several takeaways, and we can warmly recommend ‘Mi Mum Take Away’.

Directly by the harbour, there are several small shops, restaurants and plenty of bicycles. On La Digue, we recommend hiring a bicycle for your entire stay. You can easily reach even the most remote corners of the island by bicycle. The famous Anse Source d'Argent is reached through the entrance to L'Union Estate (there is an entrance fee of a few euros/rupees, but you can then come and go throughout the day or remain in the park). Anse Source d'Argent is highly recommended at sunset. The atmosphere is incredible, and the stretches of beach are almost empty. Care should be taken at some beaches on La Digue, as there can be strong currents and waves.

An inland road leads to Grand Anse. It is a breathtaking beach. From there, a short trail leads to Petite Anse, and another trail takes you to Anse Cocos. These beaches had large waves and little shade, but their incredible beauty enchanted us.

You can experience breathtaking sunsets on every island in the Seychelles. Even on our final day, we were lucky enough to enjoy another beautiful sunset.

We were amazed by how quickly the days in paradise passed. The incredible friendliness, helpfulness and connection to nature of the Seychellois are truly unique. Sadly, a genuine holiday for body, mind and soul, surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty, came to an end far too quickly. We will certainly return and will also recommend the excellent service provided by SeyVillas and Creole Travel.
