Seychelles 2018 – 10 Days in Paradise

In March 2018, it was finally time for our long-awaited holiday in the Seychelles. Two weeks before our trip, we booked three different excursions through SeyVillas – and it was one of the best decisions we made. First of all, huge praise for the SeyVillas team: both the email correspondence during the booking process and the support on site were perfectly organised. Hats off to them. We booked three excursions in total and, each time, were collected from our hotel early in the morning, right on schedule.

Excursion: Creole – Mahé’s Wild South (09.03.2018)

Our first excursion took us around the island of Mahé. It began in the capital, Victoria. Our first stop was the ‘Little Ben’ national monument, which was erected in 1903 in memory of Queen Victoria.

Little BenLittle Ben We then learnt about the history of Victoria before visiting an authentic food market in the city.

View of MahéView of Mahé The tour guide deserves particular praise here. The bus often stopped by the roadside so that we could taste and learn about local plants such as lemongrass and cinnamon trees, as well as freshly caught fish.

Our final destination was Baie Lazare bay, where we visited the Pineapple Studio art workshop and enjoyed an incredibly delicious buffet at Baie Lazare .

Excursion: Creole – Vallée de Mai & Anse Lazio

Our second excursion took us by ferry to the island of Praslin. Once again, the transfers by bus and ferry went exceptionally smoothly. The ferry crossing from Mahé to Praslin took around an hour. When we arrived on Praslin, we were taken straight to Vallée de Mai, the Seychelles’ Garden of Eden. In a group of around 15 people, we were guided through the park for approximately two hours.

Vallée de MaiVallée de Mai Here, we were able to admire the breathtaking natural surroundings and the famous coco de mer. Once again, great credit goes to the guide, who spoke German and shared plenty of fascinating information, including details about the life cycle of the coco de mer. Afterwards, we continued directly by catamaran

On board the catamaranOn board the catamaran to the bay at Anse Lazio . The catamaran trip was fantastic. As well as enjoying a delicious buffet, we had plenty of time to admire the island of Praslin from the boat. On arrival, we were taken by dinghy directly to Anse Lazio beach, and what can I say? It truly deserves its reputation as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: almost white sand, turquoise water Anse Lazio, PraslinAnse Lazio, Praslin and a breathtaking underwater world to explore while snorkelling. After around two hours, we took the catamaran back to the harbour on Praslin and then caught the ferry back to Mahé.

Excursion: Creole – La Digue

Our final excursion took us to the island of La Digue – our absolute favourite of all the islands we visited in the Seychelles. On arrival, we were immediately provided with bicycles and had the opportunity to explore the island independently.

Cycling on La DigueCycling on La Digue Our first ride took us to Grand Anse. Here, we treated ourselves to a delicious meal and cocktails while enjoying the wonderful view. Feeling refreshed, we continued our cycle tour and stopped at Anse Gaulettes, where we enjoyed some delicious smoothies and went swimming in the sea. Unfortunately, we had not brought our snorkelling equipment with us on this excursion. However, it did not matter too much, as we had the chance to enjoy the company of tortoises right beside our towels.

Beach bar on La DigueBeach bar on La Digue They were incredibly sociable. After enjoying a fresh coconut, we continued our journey and visited L’Union Estate. At the café there, we ate some delicious cake and saw local plants such as vanilla. For me, the absolute highlight of La Digue was Anse Source d'Argent. As well as its striking rock formations, this spot stands out for its beautiful beach

View of MahéView of Mahé and secluded setting. We were extremely lucky that it was very quiet that day – an absolute stroke of luck. Beach on La DigueBeach on La Digue We spent the rest of our time here before catching the ferry back to Praslin and then continuing back to Mahé.
