We decided to spend our honeymoon in the Seychelles. From the many travel reports we had read, we already had an inkling: the world’s most beautiful beaches must be there.
Online, we quickly came across the brilliantly organised SeyVillas website. We knew straight away that we would book our trip through them.
We booked our dream holiday at relatively short notice, around 6 weeks beforehand. Thanks to the friendly email correspondence with a SeyVillas employee, everything was sorted in no time.
Our flight with Etihad was very pleasant, and before long we landed in the Seychelles, on Mahé. From there, we travelled straight to Praslin by ferry – it is best to book seats on the upper deck for the fantastic views – which took around an hour. On Praslin, we received a very warm welcome and were taken directly to our accommodation, Cote d'Or Apartments, by Creole Travel Service. Our apartment was in a fantastic location, very close to Cote d’Or, a wonderful, very long beach. Cote d'Or
We chose this self-catering accommodation because we wanted to learn more about the country and its people, so we always ate out. We absolutely loved the food in the Seychelles. We particularly enjoyed Pirogue Restaurant & Bar – the food was unbelievably good!
We hired a car on Praslin, as the island is relatively large. However, you can also easily take the bus for 7 rupees, which is less than 50 pence. We drove to every beach and were amazed all over again each time. We particularly liked Anse Boudin. Anse Boudin
For 3 days, we had this beautiful dream beach all to ourselves!
A visit to Vallée de Mai is also highly recommended if you would like to experience the Seychellois jungle first-hand.
Another highlight is Anse Lazio, which provides a dreamlike backdrop for photographs, especially at sunset. Anse Lazio
Our first 5 days on Praslin flew by, and we thought nowhere could possibly be more beautiful. But then came ‘La Digue’.
La Digue is a small ‘bicycle island’, and the transfer from Praslin to La Digue takes just 15 minutes.
After arriving on the small island, we were once again taken to our accommodation, Maison Charme de l'Ile, which was also self-catering. This guesthouse was newly built in 2016, has 4 apartments, and is furnished in a particularly modern and charming style. We were absolutely delighted!
We quickly hired bicycles directly from the accommodation and cycled to ‘Grand Anse’. Grand Anse
We stopped for a break – there were plenty of uphill and downhill stretches – at a small, locally run café called ‘Mimi’. The food there is delicious, and it has a very welcoming atmosphere.
At Grand Anse, we ventured into the high waves and thoroughly enjoyed our day on this dream beach.
On the second day, we visited the world’s most famous beach, Anse Source d'Argent. Anse Source d'Argent
The route there, past the magnificent rocks and little coves, is beautiful. From this dream beach, we wanted to hike to Anse Marron, which we thought was the most beautiful beach on La Digue. It is recommended to do this tour with a guide, but we wanted to explore paradise on our own. Luckily, we met a local who showed us the way. He was extremely helpful and friendly. We had to climb through the jungle and over numerous rocks to reach the beach.

When we emerged from the jungle, we simply had no words to describe this little piece of paradise. It was absolutely beautiful!
We also hiked to Petite Anse and Anse Cocos, both of which can be reached from Grand Anse via a short walk of around 15–20 minutes each. Saying goodbye to ‘La Digue’ was very difficult. On this wonderful island, we had truly seen and experienced paradise. Petite Anse
We boarded the ferry once again and headed towards the main island, ‘Mahé’. After arriving on Mahé, we were taken to our hotel, Valmer Resort. We chose this hotel so that we could relax a little on the final island of our trip.
Valmer Resort
Relaxing evenings beside and in the infinity pool were the perfect finale to this wonderful holiday.
Mahé also offers exceptional dream beaches, including Anse Takamaka and Anse Intendance.Anse Takamaka
Snorkelling at Anse Takamaka was particularly incredible. We saw beautiful fish, turtles and rays everywhere.
Our highlight on Mahé was 2 diving excursions. We booked one with ‘Big Blue Divers’ at Beau Vallon, the island’s largest and busiest beach. It was an extremely well-organised diving school with excellent German-speaking staff. That day, a Wednesday, there was a night market on this side of Mahé, where locals sold sweet and savoury specialities. A dreamlike sunset accompanied by a passion fruit spritzer was the perfect end to a wonderful day.

We did our second dive at Anse à la Mouche with ‘Dive Resort Seychellen’. Once again, the entire team was incredibly friendly and showed us the magnificent underwater world of the Indian Ocean.
We are convinced that nowhere else in the world has so many magnificent beaches combined with such wonderful flora and fauna.
The Seychelles are an absolute must on everyone’s holiday wish list, whether you prefer active holidays or are a devoted beach lover, and they fully deserve to be called the ‘beautiful Seychelles’.
We will 100% choose this dream destination again one day.
