Another Wonderful Holiday in Paradise

Hello dear SeyVillas team,

I will try to put my first travel report into words. My motivation for writing this report is a swimming accident on La Digue in which I injured the AC joint in my left shoulder. The injury was initially treated at the small island hospital.

As there was no X-ray machine there, the doctor referred me to the hospital on Mahé. Everyone involved gave me the greatest possible support in getting treatment there. Our host at Etoile Labrine drove me several times in the electric golf buggy: to the hospital, back to the accommodation and finally to the jetty. When I returned from Mahé, I was collected from the jetty and taken back to the accommodation.

The local travel agency, ‘Creole’, accompanied me to the hospital on La Digue and translated the doctor’s diagnosis for me. They also arranged a hotel room for me on Mahé at short notice, as there were no more ferries after my treatment. On Mahé, Creole collected me from the jetty and drove me to the hospital’s Accident and Emergency department. A member of staff stayed with me until I received treatment and helped me with everything I needed. After the treatment, I was driven to the hotel, then collected again the next day and taken to the jetty.

They subsequently obtained a medical report for my overseas health insurance. As none of this should be taken for granted and it helped me a great deal, I am writing this travel report to let as many Seychelles travellers as possible know about it. I would be delighted if you, as the tour operator, could officially pass on my thanks once again to everyone involved. It is precisely when things do not go according to plan that you truly appreciate the value of a good tour operator and the local representatives.

My wife and I spent our holiday in this beautiful corner of the world for the 3rd time. We took all of these trips in November and booked them through SeyVillas.

This time, too, we opted for island hopping. Our first accommodation was Villa Admiral in the north of Praslin, right on the beach. Afterwards, we stayed at Etoile Labrine on La Digue for the 2nd time.

To round off the trip, we treated ourselves to 3 unforgettable days at Hilton Labriz on Silhouette.

Praslin, self-catering accommodation Villa Admiral:

Our house was a dream, right on the shores of the Indian Ocean. It really is only a few steps to enjoy your coffee beneath the palm trees in the morning and a Takamaka in the evening. There is certainly something to be said for not having to go out for meals. We enjoyed wonderfully beautiful sunsets overlooking the islands of Cousin, Cousine and Silhouette.

During an evening stroll along Anse Kerlan, we saw a turtle returning to the sea after laying her eggs – a truly special moment!

Our lovely hosts gave us an admission pass for Anse Georgette. This beautiful beach is about 2 kilometres from the accommodation and can only be reached via Constance Lémuria Seychelles. Visitors who are not hotel guests and do not have an admission pass cannot get beyond the entrance to the beautiful grounds.

From Anse Georgette, we went on a short but very sweaty trek to Anse Lazio.

PraslinPraslin From there, we took the bus back across the island to our accommodation. We really enjoy travelling by bus, as it gives you a glimpse of island life and the local people.

During our stay, the seaweed at Anse Kerlan was unfortunately unusually abundant for the season. Swimming was only possible to a limited extent, but it did not bother us, as on such a large beach you can always find a spot where you can enjoy bathing in the warm water. It is also a sign of good water quality!

La Digue, Etoile Labrine:

Quite a few things have changed on the island since our last stay on La Digue 6 years ago. There is a great deal of construction, and new accommodation is being built. At our accommodation, everything was just as before: lovely hosts, excellent accommodation and a very delicious evening meal prepared by the owner himself. After first cycling around the island, we headed to the dream beach of Anse Source d'Argent. It was busier there than it had been a few years ago, but it was still a dream: crystal-clear water, a sandy beach, palm trees and granite rocks – what more could you want? We rounded off the lovely day with a visit to the mountain restaurant Snack Bellevue, overlooking the island’s villages and harbour.

Then it happened at Grand Anse, with its magnificent waves. As I was coming out of the water – swimming is prohibited there – a large wave struck me from behind, and I injured my shoulder. I then had to be treated at the small island hospital. The doctor referred me to Mahé for an X-ray, which is not so straightforward, as you are naturally dependent on the ferry timetable.

I received tremendous support from the local representatives at Creole. Whether at the hospital on La Digue or in Accident and Emergency on Mahé, Creole staff accompanied me and looked after me everywhere. All the transfers and the necessary accommodation on Mahé were also arranged by Creole and our guesthouse, Etoile Labrine.

It is precisely when things do not go according to plan that you appreciate a good tour operator and the local representatives. – Once again, thank you for everything.

Silhouette, Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa:

For a new destination and the highlight of our trip, we chose Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa on the island of Silhouette. The island is reached via a ferry service operated by Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa .

Apart from the Hilton, there is only one small lodge on the island. The hotel complex lies beside an incredibly beautiful, 2 km-long, snow-white sandy beach and cannot be seen from the boat. Surprisingly, the beach was almost deserted. The resort’s small, very comfortable cottages are cleverly nestled among the lush vegetation. It never felt as though we were staying in a large hotel complex.

Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa is situated in the heart of a beautiful tropical nature park, directly on the beach. You can enjoy dreamlike beaches, crystal-clear sea and scenery that delights you afresh every day. On Silhouette, there are several opportunities to explore the island’s interior independently on foot. A guided hike is also available, as is a combination of trekking and a boat trip to the opposite side of the island.
