A Dream Come True
The Seychelles had always been a dream destination.
A destination I had always put off visiting because I mistakenly believed they were ‘inaccessible’.
Then this year I decided to take a closer look and, step by step, put together what turned out to be a wonderful trip!
La Digue, 5 days in paradise – that is how I would describe and sum them up!
You step off the ferry, turn around and this is the welcome you receive.

Your eyes widen and you think… goodness, those colours… and you still have no idea that, before long, every corner will reveal different colours that will stay in your heart forever.
A bicycle and off you go – you need nothing else but swimwear and a great, truly immense desire to explore and experience this wonderful island while adapting to its rhythm.
You cycle along, simply taking in your surroundings. You spot an unassuming little road and think… all right, a quick detour, let’s see what awaits. A dirt track, and then, before you… tropical scenery where absolute silence reigns!

The only sound – because you certainly cannot call it noise – is that of the waves. A sense of complete peace fills the air.

Then you sit down and remember you also have a map with you. You open it and realise where you are… Anse La Réunion! This is ‘my’ postcard from paradise, you think. Then you read the description of the beach, look around and think that everything is even more beautiful.
At some point, however, as often happens, the tide turns, the sea rises and the beach grows smaller. You smile and think, what is the problem? Back on the bicycle, and you continue exploring the island.
A short ride and another stop: the countless takeaways along the way offer refreshments to suit every taste – an ice-cold beer, a fresh fruit smoothie… all you have to do is choose and try them!
An uphill stretch, a descent, a bend… and giant tortoises crossing the road, ‘fortunately’ forcing you to stop cycling…
Fortunately, because you turn around and realise that behind you are majestic rocks descending into an emerald sea! You try to work out where you are, ask for directions and discover that this is Anse Severe: new scenery, new colours… and time for a swim.

And so the days pass without plans, allowing the tides to shape your days and guide your discoveries.
Today seems like the perfect day: low tide first thing in the morning, with the sun already high and shining brightly in the sky by 8.00.
Anse Source d'Argent is my destination today!
It is just a very short bicycle ride from my guesthouse and, after paying the entrance fee, I find myself in L'Union Estate . I would love to stop and admire the tortoises and enormous palm trees, but my aim this morning is to arrive in time…
I park my bicycle and, a few minutes later, there are countless colours before my eyes.

I gaze across the horizon from left to right, and before me there is nothing but an incredible sea . I try to commit as many images as possible to memory – moments I will carry with me forever!

A waking dream! … That is what the Seychelles were to me.
