An Unforgettable Holiday

This summer, the time had finally come – our two-week holiday in the Seychelles was here. We would like to share our experiences and highlights so that others can enjoy an unforgettable holiday too.

Our experiences

SeyVillas
Before making our bookings and during our trip, we contacted SeyVillas several times. Ms Tomic and Ms von der Recke were always on hand with help and advice, enabling us to organise our trip perfectly. We can wholeheartedly recommend SeyVillas as a tour operator.
Arrival and departure
We thoroughly enjoyed flying with Emirates, as the flights were punctual, the service attentive and the food excellent. We would also recommend an overnight flight, as it makes the approximately ten hours of flying pass much more quickly. The transfers to the individual apartments booked through SeyVillas were also worth their weight in gold, allowing us to reach our destinations without any stress.
Accommodation
On La Digue, we stayed at Hostellerie La Digue, where Ruby took wonderful care of us. We particularly enjoyed the beautifully maintained garden surrounding our bungalow and the large veranda. On Mahé, we stayed in the garden apartment at Au Fond de Mer View, which also offered wonderful views of the Seychelles’ many exotic plants. Janita was another very attentive host.

Highlights
With all the highlights the Seychelles have to offer, it is difficult to choose just a few. However, as there is so much more to discover beyond the breathtaking beaches, we would like to share some of our personal highlights away from beach tourism:

Creole food
Anyone who enjoys curries and fish will be in their element in the Seychelles. The dishes served by local takeaway outlets are extremely tasty, very reasonably priced compared with those at local restaurants and can often be eaten on the premises. Our absolute favourite on La Digue was Rey & Josh’s. Creole cuisineCreole cuisine Flora and fauna
The flora and fauna of the Seychelles are breathtaking. Whether it is the giant tortoises and fruit bats found on the various islands, the native Seychelles paradise flycatcher in the Veuve Reserve nature reserve, or the vanilla plants at L'Union Estate – both of the latter can be found on La Digue – there is something to marvel at everywhere. If you explore the parks independently, we would strongly advise allowing plenty of time, as some animals and plants only reveal themselves upon closer inspection.

The people
Finally, we would like to mention that we have rarely felt so welcome as tourists. There is a very special atmosphere in the Seychelles, largely due to the friendliness of the local people. No matter where we went, we were always treated with great courtesy, and everyone did their utmost to ensure we were completely satisfied. We were particularly pleased to find that a well-deserved tip can still genuinely delight the Seychellois – in some other holiday destinations around the world, it seems to be expected or is no longer truly appreciated.
