Dream Days in the Seychelles: Paradise Found
From 3 to 17 August, we enjoyed an unforgettable holiday in the breathtaking Seychelles. Our journey took us to the islands of Praslin, La Digue and Mahé, where we experienced the beauty of nature, the unique wildlife and the warm culture of the local people at first hand.
Praslin:
Our first stop was Praslin, and as soon as we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the snow-white beaches and turquoise waters of Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or).
This stretch of coastline quickly became our personal highlight. But that was only the beginning. The following day, we set off to explore Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lush tropical forest fascinated us with its diversity of plants and abundant wildlife. The next morning, an extended hike over gentle hills, through dense forests and along sweeping coastal paths took us to Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette, offering spectacular views of the coast and the sea.
Another highlight on Praslin was our excursion to Curieuse Marine National Park. There, we discovered not only fascinating stories about the local flora and fauna, but also the island’s eventful history during the era of settlers from Europe, Asia and Africa. Our favourite place on Curieuse Island was the Tortoise Sanctuary. This is a reserve for Aldabra giant tortoises, which are raised in a protected environment and cared for by local rangers. The more time we spent in the sanctuary, the more amazed we became by these fascinating, unhurried creatures and their unique talents. Finally, snorkelling at Anse Lazio gave us the chance to experience the underwater world in all its splendour and rounded off a wonderful day perfectly.

La Digue:
Our journey continued by ferry to La Digue. There, we joined expert guides for a jungle hike around the island and were rewarded with breathtaking views. Anse Marron and Anse Pierrot made a particularly lasting impression with their picturesque scenery. During the tour, our guides treated us to a freshly prepared fruit platter at Anse Marron.
At the end of the tour, we refreshed ourselves with coconuts that we had opened ourselves under the guides’ instruction. On our way back, we also stopped at the Belle Vue viewpoint to enjoy the evening atmosphere and the beautiful sunset

Encountering the free-roaming giant tortoises on La Digue was another magical moment. We loved seeing these remarkable reptiles roaming freely on the beach and being able to interact with them. Karim’s fruit bar perfectly captured the beach atmosphere, where we enjoyed the sunset with exotic cocktails and relaxing music.
Mahé:
The final stage of our journey took us to Mahé. We explored the lively Sir Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market in Victoria, where we found an abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables and spices. Our accommodation, La Trouvaille, offered breathtaking views over Anse La Mouche.
We also had the opportunity to explore the owners’ fruit and vegetable garden and, during an extensive guided tour, learn more about how coconuts, bananas, papayas, avocados and oranges are processed. All of these flourish and grow here throughout the year.
Of course, we could not miss Mahé’s idyllic beaches. We explored various stretches of coastline by car and enjoyed the crystal-clear water and fine sand. A hike to the Trois Frères viewpoint offered us breathtaking panoramic views over Victoria and the island.

To conclude our trip, we visited the Takamaka Rum Distillery , where we joined a fascinating guided tour and sampled several varieties of delicious rum.

Our time in the Seychelles was a journey into a paradise that had previously remained hidden from us. The islands impressed us with their natural beauty, rich wildlife and warm hospitality. Each island had its own special charm, and we returned home with unforgettable memories in our hearts. The Seychelles are undoubtedly a destination that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.
