Paradise on Earth

The Seychelles were a dream destination for us, as island hopping offered a lovely change of scenery and allowed us to discover the country and its people at a relaxed pace. Of course, we were also excited about the beaches and nature. Another major plus for us was the Seychelles’ approach to the environment. Their reputation for sustainability and appreciation of nature made the Seychelles the perfect destination for us.

After arriving by plane on Mahé, we took a boat to Praslin, which took around an hour. We immediately loved Praslin for its unspoilt character and tranquillity. Incredibly beautiful beaches with barely another soul in sight can be found everywhere, along almost every road. The mountains and jungle, combined with the blue sea, are simply paradise. During our three days there, we visited the beautiful Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette and Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or).

A boat trip to St Pierre Island and Curieuse, in the Curieuse Marine National Park, including a short walk to see the giant tortoises, rounded off our experience on Praslin. We found wonderful snorkelling spots everywhere and saw many fascinating fish and other marine life, including rays. Crabs scuttle about all over the island, while fruit bats fly through the evening sky at dusk. We even often spotted a hedgehog-like animal called a tenrec.

We then continued by boat to the bicycle island of La Digue. It was great fun exploring the small island by bicycle and meeting memorable people such as Simon at his fruit shop. We visited Grand Anse, Petite Anse & Anse Cocos, including the natural pool.

We loved being so close to nature and taking short hikes to the beaches. Naturally, we could not miss spending a day at the world’s most beautiful beach, Anse Source d'Argent. We also really liked the pirate cemetery there. It is certainly not something you see every day. Watching the sun go down with a freshly mixed cocktail made the day unforgettable. As La Digue is known for its vanilla production, we are keen amateur cooks and simply had to buy some fresh vanilla pods to take home as a souvenir.

We decided to take another boat trip, this time to Petite Soeur, Grande Soeur and Coco Island. What a day! We had the chance to snorkel with countless sea turtles, reef sharks and many other wonderful marine creatures. A barbecue on Grande Soeur, with its picture-perfect beach, was the ideal end to a fantastic day trip.

After La Digue, we naturally travelled by boat once again, this time to the main island of Mahé, where we headed straight to Victoria, the smallest capital in the world. Its countless shops are perfect for a spot of shopping. However, you should definitely make a detour to see Camillo’s exhibition. There is also a small café there. As our little holiday apartment was on the south-west coast at Anse Royale, it was not far to the beautiful bays along the south-west coast. We visited Anse Takamaka,Anse Soleil and Petite Anse. Anse Soleil, with its crystal-clear water, the jungle-covered mountains of Mahé in the background and a very good beach restaurant, was an absolute highlight for us. The owner of our accommodation recommended Petite Anse, and the water there was indeed even clearer. We also visited the SeyTe tea factory and enjoyed a cup of tea fit for the Queen herself.

The Seychelles exceeded all our expectations. We experienced so much and came away with images etched into our memories that we will never forget. The Seychelles are an incredibly clean destination, and the local people’s love of nature is infectious. We truly believe that we have found our paradise in the Seychelles, and we will definitely return.

The entire trip was clearly laid out and perfectly planned by SeyVillas. Everything worked seamlessly once we arrived, and even the transfer times were arranged so that we could make the absolute most of our dream holiday.
