Two Unforgettable Weeks in the Seychelles

Our two-week trip to the Seychelles began with an exciting Emirates flight via Dubai. As we approached the islands, we realised that we had arrived somewhere truly special: crystal-clear turquoise waters, lush greenery and white sandy beaches stretching as far as the eye could see. We were incredibly excited about the adventure ahead, and it turned out to be the trip of a lifetime.

Arrival on Praslin – The Start of Our Island-Hopping Adventure

After arriving on the main island of Mahé, we continued straight on to Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles, by ferry. Even during the rather choppy crossing, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the ocean and the surrounding islands. Once we arrived on Praslin, we received a warm welcome and were driven to our accommodation, The Old School Self Catering, which was just a few steps from the sea and immediately won us over with its charm.

In general, everyone we met during the trip was incredibly open and friendly, and we felt very well looked after by the travel team. On each island, we had a dedicated contact who was always quick to help us and had plenty of excellent tips. On our first full day, we headed straight to the famous Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or), which immediately enchanted us. Fine, powdery white sand, palm trees swaying in the breeze and warm, clear water provided the perfect setting for our first day in paradise. We even spotted a few peaceful rays. We spent hours relaxing in the sunshine, swimming and taking in the beauty of this place. It felt surreal to actually be on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

A Day Full of Adventure – Boat Trip to Curieuse

Our second day began with great excitement, as a boat trip to the neighbouring island of Curieuse was on the itinerary. The journey itself was an experience: the turquoise water shimmered beneath us as the boat glided across the waves, accompanied by great music and a fantastic atmosphere. At our first snorkelling stop, we immersed ourselves in the underwater world. The colourful coral reefs and countless tropical fish left us in awe – it was like a living aquarium, only far more impressive.

But the absolute highlight awaited us on Curieuse: giant tortoises roaming freely around the island! These lovely creatures were very trusting, and we were able to stroke and feed them. It was incredible to get so close to animals that looked as though they had come from a long-forgotten age.

After a delicious barbecue in a shelter, we continued to another snorkelling spot, where we discovered even more of the fascinating underwater world. The day flew by, and we returned with so many wonderful impressions.

Hiking on Praslin – Experiencing Nature Up Close

On our third day, we had a hike planned, and although we knew it would be strenuous, we could hardly wait. The trail took us from Mont Plaisir to the famous Anse Georgette, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and our favourite beach of the entire trip. The path wound through dense tropical forest, and around every corner we were treated to another breathtaking view of the deep-blue sea and surrounding islands. After a while, we reached Anse Georgette, and the exertion of the hike was instantly forgotten: this beach was simply perfect. We rewarded ourselves with fresh coconuts sold right on the beach, which tasted wonderfully sweet and refreshing.

La Digue – The Charming Island of Bicycles

The following day, our journey continued to the small, charming island of La Digue. There is very little motor traffic on the island, so we hired bicycles to explore it. The atmosphere on La Digue was incredibly relaxed, and cycling around the island was not only practical but also great fun. Our accommodation on the island, Tannette's Villa, was surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and offered us a wonderfully peaceful retreat. Our first stop was Anse Severe, a beach that proved to be a real gem. We enjoyed fresh coconut drinks at the Bikini Bottom beach bar and soaked up the laid-back atmosphere.

The following day, we visited L'Union Estate Park, where we once again delighted in seeing the tortoises, which lived here in even greater numbers. It was fascinating to watch these enormous, peaceful animals.

The afternoon was devoted to another special activity: a tour in transparent kayaks. The feeling of gliding across the crystal-clear water and seeing the colourful marine life below us was indescribable. We paddled to Anse Source d'Argent and Anse Pierrot, two of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles, and went on a short hike there that rewarded us with spectacular views.

After a refreshing fruit snack brought to us by our guide, we climbed back into the kayaks and returned just in time to watch the sunset from the water – a magical moment we will never forget.

Exploring the Length and Breadth of La Digue

On our final day on La Digue, we went on an extensive bicycle tour across the island. We cycled around the northernmost tip, continued east and then made our way back down to the south of the island. The well-maintained cycle paths and constant proximity to the sea made the tour an absolute pleasure. We stopped time and again to take short breaks at the small, picture-perfect beaches. In the evening, we rounded off the day at a cosy cocktail bar on the beach as the sun set amid a sea of red and orange. It was one of those moments when you wish you could stop time because everything is simply wonderful.

Mahé – The Grand Finale of Our Trip

Our final stop took us back to Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles. We stayed in beautiful accommodation in the south of the island, Kanasuk Self Catering Apartments, which impressed us with its breathtaking views over the surrounding jungle and peaceful atmosphere. Our room even had a balcony from which we could admire the lush tropical landscape and a small banana plantation.

We spent our final days exploring the gorgeous beaches in the south of the island: Anse Intendance, Petite Anse and Anse Soleil – each beach seemed even more beautiful than the last. The warm, clear water and relaxed atmosphere made these days the perfect escape. We also went snorkelling again and discovered another fascinating underwater world filled with colourful fish living among the coral reefs.

At the end of the trip, we found it incredibly difficult to say goodbye. The Seychelles had completely captivated us with their breathtaking natural beauty, warm-hearted people and many unforgettable experiences. It was a trip that exceeded all our expectations, and the memories will stay with us for a long time to come.

The Seychelles – a true paradise on Earth that will remain in our hearts forever, and the setting for one of the most beautiful trips of our lives.
