Dream Holiday on Praslin, La Digue and Mahé
After arriving on Praslin and checking into our first accommodation, Summer Self Catering, we headed straight to Anse la Blague to recover from the long journey. The accommodation was fantastic – set high on a plateau with wonderful sea views. The sunrises we could watch from there were particularly impressive. In the evenings, we rounded off the day with delicious food at a small local restaurant.

The next morning, we had the entire beach to ourselves – with only a few small crabs for company. There was quite a lot of seagrass in the water, but it did not bother us. Later, we set off in search of the trail to Anse la Farine, which we eventually found after looking around for a while. The hike was adventurous, but our efforts were rewarded with magnificent views.
We often travelled by bus on Praslin, and it worked surprisingly well. The bus drivers’ style of driving was a little adventurous, but you soon get used to it. One particularly useful feature is the app, which makes buying tickets very straightforward – absolutely brilliant! One of our excursions took us to Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or), a slightly livelier beach that was still pleasantly uncrowded. We even spotted a ray right by the shore.
Another highlight was our driving tour around the island. Our destination was Anse Lazio, which is considered not only the most beautiful beach on the island, but also one of the most beautiful in the world. Along the way, we kept stopping at small viewpoints that took our breath away. Later, we drove to another part of the island – although we had to go all the way around to get there – and followed a recommendation from two bus drivers. They suggested the Orique Praslin Seychelles Trail. The route led us through dense rainforest, and the trail markers made it easy to find our way to the summit, where breathtaking views awaited us.To round off the day, we visited Anse Georgette, which lies beyond the luxurious grounds of the Constance Lemuria hotel. We were allowed to walk through the grounds – an experience in itself! The resort felt incredibly exclusive, and the restaurant, with just three outdoor tables on the terrace, was particularly impressive.
We often went snorkelling and discovered a fascinating underwater world with many different species of fish, rays and even baby sharks – especially at Anse Lazio. Our highlights on Praslin were the wonderful Anse Lazio and our ‘private beach’, Anse la Bague.
Onwards to La Digue On La Digue, we stayed at the cosy little Pension Hibiscus, where we received a warm welcome from our hosts. We explored the entire island by bicycle – an absolute dream! There are countless trails leading to beautiful beaches and relaxed beach bars. La Digue is not quite as ideal for swimming as Praslin, as the waves are often fairly strong. On the other hand, it has impressive rock pools and a spectacular underwater world. The weather was on our side: almost constant sunshine and no rain – simply perfect. La Digue also has plenty of good takeaways for snacks during the day. In the evenings, we usually cooked for ourselves, often using freshly caught fish that we bought directly from the fishermen. One special experience was the Kreo Festival, a colourful, lively celebration with numerous food stalls and live music – almost like a Seychellois town festival. One of our highlights was the trail to Nid d'Aigle. As well as enjoying a magnificent viewpoint, we explored another spot that we discovered by chance, called Roche Baie. The hike was demanding: 600 metres of ascent over 5 kilometres – quite steep, but absolutely worthwhile!
