Honeymoon in the Seychelles

On 20 September 2024, we set off on our honeymoon. After an 11-hour flight, we finally arrived in the Seychelles. More precisely, on Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles. We received a warm welcome at the airport and were taken straight to the harbour, arriving in good time for our ferry to Praslin. The transfer went smoothly and was very punctual.

Praslin

After a somewhat choppy 1.5-hour ferry journey, we reached the harbour on Praslin. We were already expected there and were taken to our accommodation, Cote d'Or Footprints . The accommodation was located directly on Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) beach and was lovely. It was a complex made up of several small bungalows. During our stay, we usually had the pool area entirely to ourselves, and the beach was only a few steps away.Cote D'Or FootprintsCote D'Or Footprints The beach at Cote D’Or was one of the highlights of our holiday. It was a kilometre-long stretch of white sand with turquoise water and hardly anyone else around.

From Cote D’Or, we went on excursions to other beautiful beaches, such as Anse Lazio. We also visited Vallée de Mai National Park, where you can see the Coco de Mer, the largest nut in the world, among other things. After six nights, we continued to the next island, La Digue.

La Digue

As soon as we arrived on La Digue, we noticed the island’s very special atmosphere. The island is just a 15-minute ferry ride from Praslin. We received another very warm welcome at our new accommodation, Le Repaire Boutique Hotel, and were told all about the island. We hired bicycles for the next five days and used them to explore the island. On our very first bicycle ride, a large Aldabra giant tortoise crossed our path, which was a very special experience for us. Afterwards, we explored L‘Union Estate Park, which is known, among other things, for one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Anse Source d'Argent. There, we could see rays and lots of colourful fish in the water.

The time passed far too quickly, and we continued to our third and final stop, the island of Mahé.

Mahé

When we arrived on Mahé, we were once again taken straight to our accommodation. Like the others, Lodoicea Apartments was lovely and particularly modern. As we only had two full days left on Mahé, we spent our final days relaxing a little more and visited the beautiful Beau Vallon beach. Beau Vallon, MahéBeau Vallon, Mahé For us, Mahé was the busiest of the three islands we visited. Even so, we were surrounded by rainforests and unspoilt nature wherever we went. The natural scenery was one of the highlights that impressed us most about the Seychelles. It was incredibly green everywhere, and there were no high-rise buildings along the beaches. The weather was also very kind to us, and we did not have a single rainy day during our holiday. We would definitely choose the same route again – Praslin–La Digue–Mahé – as it made for a varied holiday, with each island having its own unique charm. We can wholeheartedly recommend a trip to the Seychelles and will definitely be back!
