Island Hopping in the Seychelles
We began planning our dream holiday in the Seychelles as early as August the previous year. It was not long before we came across the SeyVillas website, which immediately appealed to us because it makes it so quick and easy to reach your goal – the perfect holiday in the Seychelles.
Cerf Island
On the evening of 18 February, we finally set off from Vienna, travelling via Addis Ababa to Mahé. We were met by the local agency and taken to the small harbour on Eden Island, where just a few minutes later we were picked up by the boat from the hotel L’Habitation and taken to Cerf Island.

It was ideal for the first few days of our holiday: complete peace and tranquillity. We loved the hotel straight away. The room was very pretty, with a large terrace overlooking the pool and the sea beyond. The very next morning, we took a long walk along the beautiful beach.

On Cerf, we were able to spend the first few days truly relaxing, acclimatising and ‘slowing down’ from everyday life. On another day, we crossed the island along the narrow path over the hill and found a deserted beach on the other side, where we spent the entire day in peace.

We spent another day taking the complimentary shuttle boat across to Mahé, where we visited the small, bustling capital, Victoria, as well as the botanical gardens. The 4 days flew by, and it was time to continue our journey to the next island.
La Digue
The local agency collected us promptly and took us to the harbour. After a journey of around an hour, we first stopped at Praslin before continuing for another 15 minutes or so to La Digue. A waiting taxi took us to our second accommodation, Le Surmer. Our bungalow was the first one at the front, separated from the property’s private beach only by a small road, so we had an uninterrupted view of the sea. The bungalow was very spacious, attractive and perfectly equipped. At reception, we hired 2 bicycles for our entire stay, as cycling is the best way to explore the island. Our first excursion took us to the famous Grand Anse beach, with its incomparable granite boulders.

Care is needed here, however, as the currents can be very unpredictable and dangerous. But if you are cautious, you can certainly enjoy watching the impressive waves.
Another highlight of La Digue is undoubtedly Anse Source d'Argent.

We cycled there in the evening before sunset, when only a few people remained. The rocks glowing in the last light of the day more than made up for the slightly annoying ‘entrance fee’ to the beach. We absolutely loved simply setting off on our bicycles and stopping wherever we fancied to enjoy the magnificent beaches and the sea, shimmering in shades from turquoise to deep blue.

We spent our final evening on La Digue on the property’s private beach, watching the sun set while feeling relaxed, happy and full of joy.

Praslin
Once again, the taxi collected us promptly from the hotel and took us the short distance to the harbour, where we caught the ferry to Praslin. A minibus was waiting for us there too, ready to take us to our accommodation,

For an amateur photographer like me, it was paradise: the finest white sand, fringed with palm trees, picturesque granite boulders, turquoise water and a brilliant blue sky…
One absolute must on Praslin is the Vallée de Mai National Park, which has been added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. The lush greenery of the enormous ferns and palm trees is truly impressive.

On Praslin, too, we made the most of the beautiful beaches by taking long walks. On the final evening of our trip, we were fortunate enough to enjoy another of the remarkably beautiful sunsets.
We were rather surprised by how quickly 2 weeks could pass, as it was already time to say goodbye to the Seychelles. It was a wonderfully restorative holiday for both body and soul, surrounded by unique natural beauty. Our perfect choice of accommodation, the equally impeccable assistance provided by the local agency and the service from SeyVillas all undoubtedly contributed to the experience.
