An Unforgettable Journey

Hello everyone, this is the story of our honeymoon.

Organising everything from home was very easy. The SeyVillas website is extremely well designed, and the team were always very helpful and attentive to all our requests, both by telephone and email.

Our Seychelles experience began after a three-day stopover in modern, dazzling Abu Dhabi.

When we arrived on Mahé with Air Seychelles, we were promptly welcomed by the friendly Creole representatives. Creole is the local agency that SeyVillas works with for transfers and assistance on the islands.

Praslin

After travelling on the Cat Cocos ferry, we arrived on Praslin, and the island immediately impressed us with its lush vegetation.

Our accommodation was located along Côte d’Or, where you will find Anse Volbert, a beautiful, long beach which, unfortunately, was affected by washed-up seaweed during our stay.

The Cote d'Or apartments are set in a beautiful, lush garden. They are new, spacious and modern, and our first-floor apartment had a comfortable terrace.

As we had chosen half board, in the evenings we could dine either at a nearby restaurant within walking distance or at another restaurant offering a complimentary transfer; both were excellent options.

For your time on Praslin, we recommend hiring a car for at least one day and making sure you do not miss:

  • Anse Georgette (contact the Lemuria Resort in advance)
  • Anse Lazio, for those must-have photographs
  • Vallée de Mai, with its incredible forests of giant palms and the famous coco de mer
  • An excursion to Curieuse Island, where you will encounter hundreds of tortoises, as well as the small island of St Pierre.

La Digue

After three days on Praslin, we travelled to La Digue. The island’s small size and the fact that you can cycle all over it make it a real gem! We stayed at the Patatran Hotel, a charming property where we had a very pleasant stay. Our room was truly lovely, but it was at the top of a small hill and therefore rather tiring to reach; just think of it as some extra exercise!

From our hotel in the north, opposite the small but beautiful and highly regarded Anse Patates, we travelled more or less everywhere on the ever-present bicycles. Allow around half an hour to cycle from north to south!

Grand AnseGrand Anse

We highly recommend:

  • Anse Source d'Argent and its famous granite boulders
  • Grand Anse, with its magnificent blue breakers, and nearby Petite Anse
  • Anse Severe, with its seashells
  • Anse Fourmis, further north, for a relaxing swim
  • A lovely dinner at the rustic Jules, where you can enjoy octopus with curry and coconut milk
  • If you are missing Italian cuisine, pay a visit to Remo at Le Repaire

Do not forget to enjoy the coconuts and fresh juices sold at the little roadside kiosks.

Mahé

After La Digue, we returned to Mahé, where the weather was decidedly more changeable.

On Mahé, we chose accommodation that would be convenient for our return flight the following day and was therefore close to the airport.

La Roussette Hotel consists of several bungalows set in a beautiful, well-maintained garden, with a small swimming pool and a delightful communal area. It is run by an exceptionally kind Seychellois lady who lived in Italy for many years. The hotel is an excellent choice for the beginning or end of a trip. We dined at the property and were very pleased with our meal.

On Mahé, we visited the small capital, Victoria, and the beautiful Anse Royale, which was well worth seeing. We travelled by bus, which is a very convenient way to explore the island despite the drivers’ rather daring style of driving!

In short, what can we say? Our trip was a wonderful experience. We saw some magnificent places that were true tropical paradises.

Everything went perfectly, from the arrangements made by SeyVillas to the consistently punctual local transfers and the weather, which treated us to many gloriously sunny days.
