We spent our first holiday together in the Seychelles. We had 18 days and decided to explore the three best-known islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
We flew from Munich via Dubai to Mahé, then continued by ferry to Praslin.
Praslin
We spent 6 nights on Praslin at Le Relax Beach Resort. The hotel has a small pool with a few sun loungers and is located directly on Grand Anse. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset there every evening. View from the Relax Beach Resort You can either eat at the hotel itself or stroll a little way along the road, where you will find several pleasant restaurants in different price ranges. There are three bus routes on Praslin, making it easy to explore the whole island. One day, we travelled to Anse Lazio, a very well-known and genuinely beautiful beach. Anse Lazio
If you are visiting Praslin, you should not miss a trip to Vallée de Mai National Park. We really enjoyed the circular walk through the palm forest. Vallée de Mai We spent a particularly lovely day at Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or). There are a few rocks in the sea some distance from the beach. We snorkelled around them and spotted plenty of fish. There are also several charming little shops at Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or) that are perfect for browsing. Anse Kerlan is a slightly wilder beach, often with high waves. We were the only visitors there and used the fallen trees as a backdrop for some wonderful photographs. We then took the ferry to the next island, La Digue, which took just under 15 minutes.
La DigueWe spent 5 nights at Cocotier Du Rocher Self Catering Apartments. Our apartment was set in a beautiful garden and was very spacious and clean. We hired bicycles there straight away, which are an excellent way to explore the entire island. As we both like to stay a little active even when on holiday, we really enjoyed this. There are several restaurants and souvenir shops around the harbour. We particularly loved Anse Severe. It is a wonderful place to relax, and the small bars serve coconuts and fruit juices. We went snorkelling here more than once because it was simply beautiful. The visibility is excellent, and you can spot all sorts of marine life. We even saw a stingray here. Anse SevereThe beaches of Anse Source d'Argent and Anse Pierrot are also absolute must-sees. They can only be reached on foot, but the walk there is stunning in itself. You simply have to see these incredible rock formations. Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue
One day, we took a boat trip to the three islands of Big Sister, Small Sister and Félicité. Our first stop was Big Sister Island. We crossed the island and found a beautiful, deserted beach on the other side. We spent some time playing in the waves and relaxing there. Afterwards, we returned to the other side of the island, where there is a beautiful reef. Its colourful underwater world makes it ideal for snorkelling. A delicious barbecue was prepared on the beach for lunch. We also anchored off Small Sister Island and Félicité to go snorkelling. Anse TakamakaBig Sister Island
Both spots were fantastic, with so many different things to see. The excursion was definitely worthwhile. If you enjoy hiking, you should take a guided tour to Anse Marron. The route is very varied, leading through the sea, over granite rocks and through dense palm forest. It is definitely worth the effort, but it is not suitable for travellers with young children or anyone with a fear of heights. At Anse Marron, you can cool off in the natural pools or plunge into the waves at the wild beach beyond the rocks. Anse Marron
We then took the ferry back to Praslin and continued from there to Mahé.
Mahé
We spent 5 nights on Mahé at Chez Batista. We particularly liked this accommodation because it is situated directly on the gorgeous Anse Takamaka, which offers beautiful sunsets and excellent snorkelling. We were lucky enough to see several sea turtles there. Snorkelling off Big Sister Island On Mahé, we would definitely recommend hiring a car, as the bus network is quite confusing. The market in Victoria, with its many spice, fruit and fish stalls, is certainly worth a visit. We also visited the well-known Beau Vallon. It has several shops, restaurants and places to stay, as well as plenty of water sports. We particularly liked Anse Bougainville. We had the entire beach to ourselves and enjoyed the tranquillity and turquoise sea. Another real highlight is Anse Royale, which completely won us over with its beautiful views. Anse Royale Our personal favourite, however, was Anse Intendance. It is not only excellent for swimming, as the water becomes deep quite quickly, but we also saw dolphins surprisingly close to the beach. There is also a small stall where you can buy coconuts and fresh fruit.
Sadly, every journey eventually comes to an end. We returned home feeling truly relaxed and overjoyed, with many wonderful memories that we will never forget.
