At the end of September, we set off for the Seychelles with high expectations.
The first step was booking the trip. We compared many offers from different travel providers and were immediately impressed by SeyVillas’ excellent, straightforward service and the wide range of options for individually combining islands and accommodation.
In the end, we decided to spend 4 days on La Digue, followed by 5 days on Praslin. We would definitely do it the same way again!
We first took the bus from the airport on Mahé to the harbour, then the ferry to Praslin and finally continued from Praslin to La Digue. The transport arrangements worked brilliantly: we hardly had to wait at all and were very well looked after by our travel provider on arrival. Unfortunately, we had not reserved seats on the ferry’s open deck. We will definitely remember to do that in advance on our next trip. The pale blue sea is magnificent, and there are little islands to admire everywhere. Another very good reason to reserve a seat on deck is the heavy swell!
Finally, we arrived on La Digue.
We stayed at the Island Bungalow and received a warm welcome. Great care was taken to ensure everything was clean and tidy. Our room was cleaned every day. The breakfast was certainly ample. Every morning, there was toast with jam, a fruit platter and a choice of scrambled eggs, fried eggs or an omelette. Coffee or tea and juice were served to drink. The nearest beach was less than a 5-minute walk away. Hotel beach
The beautiful island of La Digue is captivating, with its unique beaches and, of course, its wonderful scenery. We were able to explore the entire island by bicycle. We hired the bicycles very cheaply from our accommodation. This allowed us to discover one highlight after another: tortoises, delicious takeaways, incredible beaches and a park that was well worth visiting.
Naturally, our destination was La Digue’s beach of all beaches, Anse Source d'Argent – although, in my opinion, they are all stunningly beautiful – and to reach it, we had to pass through a park. Admission costs around SR 115 per person. We admired giant tortoises, numerous cultivated fields, vanilla plantations and rare birds. At the end of the park, we reached the beach, which consists of many small, idyllic coves. We walked along each section and settled down in the final cove. There is a small, absolutely charming bar here where you can enjoy a wide variety of smoothies. Bar at Anse Source d’Argent
On the fourth day of our trip, we continued to Praslin. There, we stayed at Acquario Villa by Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or). Once again, we received a very friendly welcome. Our room was very clean and was serviced every day. The kitchen was well maintained and superbly equipped. We catered entirely for ourselves here, and all the supermarkets we needed were within walking distance. We did not hire bicycles, instead exploring the island by bus – whenever one turned up! During the day, we relaxed on the many beautiful beaches. In our opinion, Praslin’s beaches are better suited to swimming and snorkelling than those on La Digue. In the evenings, we either cooked at our accommodation or went into the village. There were several lovely restaurants and bars where we could enjoy a meal, such as Café de Arts.
At our accommodation, we were offered various snorkelling day trips. In the end, we chose one and were collected by boat from our beach. We travelled to Curieuse Island, where we saw many tortoises. After a short walk across the island through the beautiful scenery, we discovered another wonderful beach, where a barbecue had been prepared for us. Later in the afternoon, we continued by boat and had around an hour to go snorkelling. Snorkelling paradise
On our final day, we visited the famous Anse Lazio. Anse Lazio
It is captivating, with its gentle waves, turquoise water and two lovely beach bars. The bus journey took around 20 minutes. As the bus cannot stop directly by the beach, a short walk of around 15 minutes is required. But it is well worth it!
Our holiday came to an end. We were collected punctually from our accommodation and taken to the harbour on Praslin. From there, we travelled by ferry to Mahé and then continued to the airport.
We had a wonderful holiday in the Seychelles and would like to thank SeyVillas for the excellent support with our travel arrangements.
