A Dream Comes True: Island Hopping in the Seychelles

This year, we fulfilled a dream and went island hopping in the Seychelles: We began on the beautiful little island of Cerf, where we explored many smaller islets by canoe and visited the giant tortoises on Moyenne Island, among other things.

There are kiosks and supermarkets everywhere, along with fresh fish and wonderful, locally grown vegetables. Our favourite part of Mahé was the north-west, with its breathtaking bays and a small private island that we could wade or snorkel over to.

Next came the highlight of our trip: a large catamaran from VPM Cocktail Créole. It was incredibly beautiful to anchor in secluded bays, dine there and enjoy a glass of wine during the spectacular sunsets (or a coffee at sunrise), snorkel straight from the boat or swim over to a small island.

Sunset on the boatSunset on the boat We disembarked on Praslin, where we had the chance to discover the Coco de Mer. We took a wonderful trip to Vallée de Mai, where we learnt a great deal about palm trees. Our official final stop, however, was La Digue, and it was certainly one of the most beautiful islands we visited. The people are friendly and relaxed, the atmosphere is wonderful, and everyone cycles around the island. The beaches are world-class, the sand is pinkish white, and the famous rocks are everywhere.

Beach on La DigueBeach on La Digue We had lovely accommodation by the beach, complete with a small resident tortoise who was practically part of the furniture. Self-catering is also easy there, and every morning we cycled to the shop around the corner to pick up bread rolls and eggs. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island, fishing, snorkelling and grilling fresh fish.

A word of caution: the waves there are much stronger and have been known to carry off the occasional pair of sunglasses, or so we heard.

Above all, though, it is the sunsets that will stay with us. Whether we watched them from the beach, the boat or our terraces, we made lasting memories that will undoubtedly remain with us for a long time. We would recommend this trip to everyone and can also highly recommend SeyVillas for their planning assistance, booking support and excellent organisation.
