10 Days in Paradise
After landing on Mahé at 13:30, we went straight to a beachfront hotel in Beau Vallon for one night. We immediately headed to the beautiful, wide, long sandy beach at Beau Vallon and were genuinely lost for words! Absolutely stunning, crystal-clear, shimmering green and turquoise, and almost deserted! Sensational – a gorgeous bay with a water temperature of 28°C. The small time difference from Europe, just 2 hours, is very pleasant, and without any jet lag we were able to enjoy our 10 days to the full.
The next day, we went to the ‘Jetty’ (the departure terminal). We had already booked 3 catamaran trips with Cat Cocos from Germany. (This is advisable, as the catamarans were almost fully booked.) Our destination was La Digue – on the west coast near La Reunion beach, where we had a very lovely holiday apartment with a terrace and garden. In addition to several restaurants and hotels, there are also takeaway restaurants with outdoor seating and affordable prices. (For anyone unfamiliar with these: this is not greasy fast food, but more like home cooking – homemade dishes from various pots that you can combine as you please. Rice with meat, fish or vegetables, lentils, pasta, salads, etc.)
At Anse Severe, you can experience wonderfully beautiful sunsets, and there are also several beach bars.
You can sit there and relax or lie on the beach and enjoy the sunset. It is worth bringing a head torch or bicycle light from home, as most of the hire bikes here do not have lights. La Digue is beautiful and wonderfully peaceful. You can get everywhere by bicycle and, fortunately, there are no annoying bicycle bells either. Pure peace and relaxation!
Anse Source d'Argent really is incredibly beautiful and impressive! The rocks, the natural surroundings and the entire park are, of course, well worth seeing.
It is worth staying on La Digue for a few days, as the island has more to offer than just Anse Source d'Argent. For example, there are the stunning beaches of Grand Anse and Petite Anse. After 4 nights, we travelled by Cat Cocos speedboat to Praslin.
Our bungalow, the Cote d'Or Footprints, booked through SeyVillas, was sensational!
Everything was immaculately maintained and furnished in a modern yet traditional local style, with a starter pack (fruit, biscuits, coffee and milk), a fully equipped kitchen (including a microwave), and a fan on the outdoor terrace. The chalet is just 100 metres from the magnificent, idyllic and uniquely beautiful Anse Volbert (Cote d'Or). It really could not have been any better! Once again, we found ourselves in paradise. You can also take wonderful snorkelling and diving excursions from here.
The absolute highlight for me was the boat trip to Curieuse, in the Curieuse Marine National Park.

The Seychelles: beautiful, varied, clean and safe! We left with heavy hearts, but one thing is certain: we will definitely be back!
